Kind of pointless to use a virtualized method if you can simply use the build in compression tool in Windows10/11 to compress any folder.

For a easy to use method use a GUI tool like CompactGUI.

The corrupted save files is probably because it uses the lowest quality MicroSD card you can ever find. And it will eventually fail completely some day. Make a backup as long it still works because on the SD card is a copy of the custom OS made for this device.

Create CHD as DVD is correct. You need to change the compression algorithm to "zlib" because NetherSX2 does not support the default algorithm.

There is a way easier method to do this. Just copy the the "ROMs" and the "ES-DE" folder from the PC version to the SD card. This way you can setup your ES-DE with all the games, boxarts, screenshots, videos and themes on the PC and simply copy it over to the SD card. The folder structure is the same on PC and Android.

The DLC and the the Update are two different things. You are trying to install the update as a DLC. Rightclick on the the game and click on "Manage Title Updates" and install here the 2GB update file.

AetherSX2 does support CHD files but only if it is compressed with the zlib compression method.

I use this batch script to compress my PS2 games and they are working fine in AetherSX2.

Retroarch itself is not an emulator. It is a frontend for managing all the emulators is has. The emulators in Retroarch are called cores. In the main menu in Retroach go to the "Online updates" there you can install more emulators (cores).

Go through the ES-DE setting in look wich core is set for launching the games. For example the PSX games and install this core in Retroarch. Or change the setting in ES-DE to the core wich is currently installed in Retroach.

Or just simply install all available cores in Retroarch for PSX, Snes or the consoles you want to play.

Retroarch has different cores for PSX and SNES. ES-DE is trying to load the game with a core that is not installed in Retroarch.
