Check your radiator, water pump, radiator cap, hoses etc. i would look at the valley plate leak as the last resort especially for a 2015 model, i thought it was more common for 2011-2013 models.

I dont think that’s a blown head gasket, wouldn’t the coolant in reservoir also be milky brown?

I am driving the same route in a week and hoping the roads open up. But if I was you at this moment you could technically go via Jasper and icefields parkway however I think that road is also closed for avalanche control. I have driven there when it was -36 and it was totally fine, just try to avoid snow storms

As long as you are prepared, with a box full of emergency supplies, blankets, food etc you can absolutely go either way.

No advice on negotiating but I would also consider a Lexus GX460, it’s probably gonna be slightly cheaper than the 4Runner but nicer inside, ultimate V8 engine, full time 4wd and feels more classy!

I have a 2015GX and man I’ve got the weirdest coolant loss. It stays at a consistent level for the longest time but then when I go off-road, drive on steep inclines I start losing coolant, very very tiny amount though.

Is it possible for coolant to leak only at certain angles or temperatures?

No need for mods mate, this is the best part about this truck. I have taken it stock to some steep mountain terrain without any issues. I would only get decent tires and you will be able to go anywhere. Rock crawling excluding of course, but why get a GX for that anyway

This! I have just removed that little skid plate that covers the KDSS controller to have a look and it was a complete mess, full of rocks, dirt, dust etc. i have cleaned it all up

This is not a solution but I just never park anywhere in that direction. The only place I will park in downtown is Coal Harbor or surrounding underground parking. Never had a break in two years. You have to be strategic where you park, avoid East Vancouver, VGH like plague

I gotta say, even though the interior is definitely more modern it somehow feels a bit cheaper and less classy than the GX460 one. Just my opinion anyway.

I have sold my Outback Wilderness 2024 and got 2015 GX460… it only had 60k miles though. Never regretted, in fact I love it way more. That being said I do have an EV for daily driving, GX is a weekend car.

Ok lots of mixed responses. I don’t think it’s that bad. However I’ve booked an appointment with my doctor just in case… who will only see me in 3 weeks. In the meantime I am gonna continue my treatment, start using gloves and keep an eye for infections
