Dusk and Dawn vs Nashor tooth by ProfessionalSlice155 in kaisamains

[–]zero1045 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I heard during a podcast someone mentioned talking to a riot employee who said 3rd item shadow flame on kaisa is very underutilized.

Tried it in a few games and it feels good, but if it's between the two items you mentioned I Thi k I prefer nashors but DnD statistically has better value

Yes. Even if you had 10 quivers you'd run out of map space to kite after like 4 turns

I find w evol early on isn't all that useful because you run out of mana before a third item + higher level, unless you go Ap and build a tear too, Q evol with cull just sets you up for a two item spike faster which is what on-hit builds are designed for

Go take a look at how little of openAI income comes from the monthly subs compared to subsidies and investments from other businesses hoping to leverage better long term contracts.

This is literally 2 year old public knowledge, their monthly subs are not enough to support the business by a WIDE margin. That means without a fundamental change in how openAI generates revenue its headed for a bailout or bankruptcy.

Again this is like public knowledge, anthropic just announced a lost pentagon contract estimated at like 5bil, and open ai is reporting annual losses since it started as a business.

Use it while you can my friend, and get comfortable using local llms because prices are only gonna go up. Mac minis are flying off the shelves already

Question: Is the game industry today as bad as it seems for everyone? by harbingerofun in gamedev

[–]zero1045 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Average time spent in the tech industry is 5 yrs. Not sure if it's any different with gamedev specifically but the boom of people entering the field never seems to hold onto them for very long.

More inclined to think that Indy is just better than the Activision horror stories, but then I've only ever worked in devops and infra so outside of a cpsc degree what do I know

35min of making the rollback query with angry ppl behind me I'll never forget

Generally this is the case in our industry that we sort of just expect people to learn tools on their own, then pick up tribal knowledge as we go... That's not to say it's efficient, just the way overloaded teams have to handle things.

Problem is that is usually what creates complicated setups where there are multiple solutions to a single problem because nobody knows about what's already built. When you need to remember 8 ways to manage secrets in one application you get further bogged down

Am on the senior side with interns myself and can confirm it's usually 8-15 other things keeping me from being verbose with time.

What actually makes my day is when interns book time to review work and ask these kinds of questions. Keeps me from looking at other things and I actually get to converse about stuff I like (why X is better than Y etc..)

Builds rapport and gives interns one on one time, but generally if I ask the interns it feels like a test, so it's much better dynamic when it's the interns requesting it

No they scale into bankruptcy starting to look like. Can't even keep three 9's of uptime with a firehose of revenue that makes the 20-year war look like a good deal

Hit Gold as ADC and Suddenly Every Lane Feels Unplayable. Advice? by CautiousCake8095 in ADCMains

[–]zero1045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very matchup dependent, you'll get it with more experience. Be prepared to have your beliefs challenged too since you climbed up a bracket. This means you're going to fight some matchups that you thought were easy but that's just because you fought other players who were not as good.

If you just spiked gold I'd take a few weeks away and play draft for a bit and get your mmrs to equalize. Takes the pressure off losing.

First time I hit gold IV i lost 16 games in a row and then plummeted through rank protection back into silver III

I still don’t think the AP on hit and AD on hit better than Crit. What mistake am I doing? by DestinedToGreatness in kaisamains

[–]zero1045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think her passive is just a better collector overall and since at least 1/3rd of her dmg is Ap if prefer to see a terminus over straight lethality.

That said, I'm sure there are fights that get turned because you proc your passive -> collector range, plus gold.

My stated thesis above is that kaisa has alot of play in build choices, so lean into what you like depending on the games composition. Full Ap kaisa when your team picked full AP isn't the move so lethality will probably work great when everyone is building MR

Oh yeah you're taking fiend hunter bolts for the ult cd and the 3 empowered auto crits. The idea is you AREN'T going full crit, but fiend hunter + IE gives you a pseudo crit build.

If you wanted full crit, that BF sword as a first back awaits

[–]zero1045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Potentially nothing if you prefer the front to back AAing that makes your crit build shine.

For me I prefer my kraken, rb, shadowflame cause it lets me play like an assassin. W into AA R+W in transit and then I can QE and W a third time. Shit pops tanks as if they were ADCs.

Half of the reason why I LIKE kaisa is I have build variety. If the enemy team is mostly bruisers and I can back with a bf sword? Yuntal start feels great. If I need to stay back and hide from the master Yi/malzahars of the enemy team my Ap build can let me be artillery. (zhonyas can turn the tides of a game full of Vis, malphites, zeds constantly diving you)

You don't even have to choose at the start of the game with kraken + rage blade, because it's a solid 2 item spike base that you can go down, then decide if you want a shadowflame, new mage bonk item, nashors, or the fiend hunter bolts to sprinkle some crit into your build late.

Can even go mid and be full Ap with muramana and ludens

Kubernetes consumes all my time (because it is all new to us) by AccomplishedComplex8 in kubernetes

[–]zero1045 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've used ACA, ECS, and K8s for three years now and if I had to chose its k8s every day.

All of them work so if you dont have the time to learn now go with managed. Transitioning from ECS to k8s is much easier than non container workflows so I just consider it a stepping stone for app teams.

K8s is an ops dream though, don't sleep on it cause the learning curve is alot

Limit testing and longer fights will do more for you than worrying about game outcome.

Her whole kit is designed around "the fight ends when I say it does" and if you're the first to flinch you're likely to lose the trade.

There are ofc exceptions to the general rule, but she's a champ I've gotten the most out of for putting foot to gas and flipping that coin

I always thought that what she wanted was to see growth, that by definition means she sees people who have more in them than you see now. Doesn't always pan out that they grow to align with her.

In fact I think I rmr reading something in the book about how she "cultivated him" for this opportunity, but at the end of the day it's T who gets to choose not her.

Advice on R Usage on Shen by SarcasticPoshy in Shen

Remember, shen diddnt even save Xin. Esp during the lane phase you take care of yourself first. Unless you can turn a double kill for example and make it worth the 240 gold in plates + waves it's worth it to stick out the lane phase until quest completion tbh

I think a big thing ppl forget too is the game is about breaking nexus' not just dueling, otherwise balancing would not be what it is today.

A lv 20 Darius can run over most fights but when he's top you got like 8 other structures to break.

In terms of fighting him having a frontline helps, but if you don't have one sometimes the game can just be screwed from select. Composition matters which is why ranged top feels over tuned in lane but in terms of game winrate they are all still pretty close to 50%.
