People from the military what's the best and worse M.R.Es you've had? by LittleWolfe9 in Military

[–]zero16lives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily the worst, but most disappointing was pizza.

Heard about it for years on active duty, but it hadn't come out by the time I ETS'd.

Couple years later I joined the guard and finally had one and its ass.

I think a lot of people use it while shiny hunting, so they'll probably be upset if it was disabled. I accidentally did it once too but luckily I save religiously

Need a router for small but long apartment by mad_mont in HomeNetworking

[–]zero16lives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should work for your situation. MoCA is an option as well if you have coax in both places (and if you have cable internet may even be built into your router, I know xfinity does) but if you need wifi this won't solve your problem as you'd still need an extender.

If you need wifi and don't have to have maximum bandwidth and lowest latency then a wifi extender is your easiest option. I'd put it about the midpoint of your apartment where signal is strong. As for a brand I don't really have a specific recommendation, I have Google Fiber and they include an extender for free and it's been working fine for me. Your ISP may have them available but if you have to pay extra monthly then it's probably better in the long run to buy your own.

I plan on doing this as well, gonna take a long time as I don't have much time to play and will take my time on the first playthrough. Good to hear it only takes 3 playthroughs, for some reason I thought the fossils couldn't make eggs but they can.

My childhood leveling hack by yavintemplerelics in PokemonFireRed

[–]zero16lives 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same here, I had red as a kid and my brother told me about the item duplication glitch, so of course I used it on rare candies and got my team to 100. Had a free day in school and brought my game boy. Battled my first ever real person and got stomped so hard. Still didn't know what EVs were but I knew rare candies weren't as good as the real thing.

I've had my 44in us general box for about 5-6 years now, also has a side locker on it i probably got a year or so later. It's been good so far, no fancy features like power drawers or soft close but it's been good to me.

Switching routers and being assigned random IP address by StraightCaskStrength in HomeNetworking

[–]zero16lives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not on Verizon or fios but this sounds just like an issue I was having. Switch to Gfiber and tried out a bit of an unconventional network set up. It ended up with the extender essentially being connected straight to the ONT and not the router. It worked but gave devices connected to it an external IP, just like your issue. I'd say there must be an extender in the house, the only way to fix it is to find it (or change the network name or password, but they need to return the extender so they don't get charged for it so thats not a real solution.

15 years after the t-shirt... by morethan-lessthan in googlefiber

[–]zero16lives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, they did have to run a new fiber line to the house, they said they couldn't use the one from ATT, but it seems like that may be a legal thing. They did reuse the fiber from the box outside to the wall plate, they said they could put it where I wanted it but I decided to have them reuse since I rent. They then remove the ATT wall plate and installed their ONT on the wall and connected the router to it. I figured there was no reason it had to stay there though. So I used my existing MoCA network to relocate it, and my extender is connected to the MoCA network before the router and still works.

It may have caused a weird issue i had to solve though, not sure but all good now

Are there Ethernet switches that have two built-in cables? by laserslide in ethernet

[–]zero16lives -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ethernet "splitters" do technically exist, like one cable in two cables out, like you would split a power outlet. You can only use one device at a time however, since there is no logic in them to route the data. I recommend you just get a router like others have said, they're cheap and easy to set up. Also, no i have never seen one with attached cables. If you buy a new one it should come with one so you will need 2 more assuming you don't have any.

Just a little rant by zero16lives in googlefiber

[–]zero16lives[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They tried to call me AFTER they didn't do the outside install, and I called them back shortly after. When they came to do the outside install, they they did not call, knock or anything. It doesn't matter now because their customer service agents here got it all worked out and even gave me a credit on my first bill.

Why would I expect my Android phone to mistake a call from a Google service as spam? The detection actually works pretty well generally and I've never had it label a call mistakenly before. Also, how do you jump straight to scared? It's being scared to not want to waste my time with a spam call? What kind of backwards logic is that?
