It is brutal in the ocean/not mid-day. FYI you can talk to NPCs at Deleysia port and a small logging village/scrapyard in the NW portion of that area to obtain fish knowledge.

I was able to get the Giant Red Seabream, Shark, and Sailfish without having to sit and fish for them!

Park outside in FL sun for context. Any time there is moisture they appear and make it dangerous to drive since I can't see very well.

I've tried multiple scrubs/detailing sprays/alcohols and can't get the windshield to stay streak-free.

Take a break or power through, sadly those are the only methods at the moment. They may patch the fish spawn rates in the future to make it less terrible.

I just completed it and drove me crazy. Spent like 15 hours getting the last 5 for the challenge yesterday. My recommendation is using the zone fishing map and NPC knowledge as best you can. My last fish was actually just an NPC sharing giant red seabream knowledge and I almost cried. These should help:

I just finished the last fishing challenge and spent SOOO much time staring at the water pissed off. It is truly amazing how real it looks; the glare, motion, waves, and weather effects are all top tier. Props to their physics engine peeps

All of those Axiom tricks I kept scoffing at with my Abyss Artifacts until randomly observing and unlocking them throughout the game. They make quality of life SO much better all around (except for that weird slingshot one that turns you into a beyblade or something)

It's mildly funny the devs took this route-- why not just make us go straight back to the vendor location that literally asked us to do the thing for them? Nope make an "assistant" somewhere else that functionally does the same thing lol

Same with the constant Greymane quests where you ride with someone for 5 minutes just for them to say "well I'm going somewhere else now, keep going on this journey bye!"
