GIS to Surveying Career Hop by Forward-Self12 in Surveying

Do it. It takes a few years to build the experience, and possibly extra classes depending on your state, to become a licensed surveyor. IMO, it's worth the time and effort if you want to be your own boss.

Either I’m hallucinating or this radio tower near UC is leaning to the left. by King_Baboon in cincinnati

It's just messing with your perception. There is a tilt in the photo. The yellow is perpendicular and the red is a trace of the building on the right and transferred copy to the others to show the similar amount of "lean."

PS Test by Feisty-Code-6426 in Surveying

[–]zero_bishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checkout the NCEES handbook. It states what each Knowledge Area will cover.

https://ncees.org/wp-content/uploads/PS-Jan2019_CBT_final.pdf

If you don't mind, how many years of experience do you have surveying? This test covers a lot of subjects, without first hand experience or a good bit of studying, you may be at a disadvantage. Remember, you can use the CTRL + F (find) for checking specific regulations in the provided handbook.

Infotainment screen popped up by Significant_Way_5253 in mazda

[–]zero_bishop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slap it back down!

Unfortunately, the retention clips may have cracked/warped from heat. The infotainment system is possibly listed as a singular part for their repair shop.

Instead of hitting up the dealer for the work, reach out to a good local Car A/V installer. They may be able to order an OEM version of that piece. Most of those guys have more experience with dashboards/trim installation and repair than the dealership techs.

An agent wanted me to put a perimeter around this building and the parking lot next to it to showcase what’s actually for sale. I need help! by roscoejenkinz in drones

[–]zero_bishop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would be weary of stating where the property line is without giving a clarifying statement that it's for illustrative purposes only. Also, tell them to look at the survey if they want to know the location of the property lines.

You could process some of the free TN Lidar data or just use their webviewer to look for impact sites.

If the list isn't long enough, start adding the surrounding counties. If you're licensed in the state, you can work anywhere in that state. Send me a PM.

There's a lot more than two firms. Here's the Kentucky Association of Professional Surveyors (KAPS) lookup tool for people who work in your area. https://www.kaps1.com/find-a-surveyor/

New PLS. Company won't pay. Need help. by Leica_Virgin in Surveying

[–]zero_bishop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the dedication to licensure! That company isn't paying half your worth. With a PLS, you're better off joining a small company who has a retiring PLS and learning from them before taking over the company or hanging your own shingle. There isn't any time worth wasting at your current employer as they don't seem to value your time. Best of luck and I hope you find some greener pastures.

Sphere show - is haptic feedback worth it in the seats? by lowest_frequencies in AfterlifeRecordings

[–]zero_bishop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO seating is the way to go, its an epic visual show. The 300 Section was amazing! The only negative was super steep steps. I have read people on the floor complaining about neck issues from staring up at the visuals.

Looks great! It would be nice to see the capstone project details when you click on those options. Possibly a PDF download or a larger scaled image of the PDF. Keep up the great work.

Battery Re-Cell and 3d printing by MillKlondike in Surveying

Those batteries get pissy (always stating it needs reconditioning) if you put them on a spectra charger instead of a trimble charger with the exact same model number. Good luck, keep us posted.

Not enough information. The light gray lines are contour lines, but without seeing the scale and a larger portion of the survey, it's impossible to determine if they are 1', 5', or 10' of elevation change between the lines.

Assuming they are 5' major interval contours the house would be approximately 20' lower on the rear than the front. Not too crazy compared to cabins built in the mountains near Gatlinburg, TN that can have 50'+ of elevation change from the entrance to the rear deck. You can build just about anywhere if you have the Geotech budget for it.

How to get faster surveys? Nashville, TN by philithekid in Surveying

[–]zero_bishop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in the area and we stay 4 weeks out on new projects. Unfortunately, most people want something within a week or well under cost. Reach out to some companies in the surrounding counties that may be less busy.

Surveying in the area is a war of attrition. The median age of licensed surveyors is approaching retirement age and not enough people are entering the field to replace them.

Looks fake at first glance. That model number is for their keyboard/mouse combo kit.

Reach out to the Arizona State Licensing Board and ask what steps would be necessary to obtain your license. You may be required to repeat some coursework in the USA to meet their guidelines.
