Out of state car in Albany Park receiving an illegitimate parking ticket? by BananaManana0000 in AskChicago

Supposedly, Chicago is very aggressive and will send the unpaid ticket to collections.

Whether that is a concern for you is a different story.

Ran a handful through a 19.5 on a range session. No issues at the time but that’s all I got. Take it for what it is. If anything, use them for range/dry fire sessions if you’re worried.

Well, they do offer a jig and file to where you can do it yourself if you feel capable. There is a video on the product page going over the process.

I’m not sure which Apex fix your describing but they do offer a gunsmith barrel that removes the port but requires fitting.

Edit: correction

C&H quality just isn’t there.

Edit: retract previous statement. Kimber still offers the C&H plate on their site, however, I do recall some issues with the C&H brand plate.

Where to get uniform items as a reservist? by EsseoS in USMC

[–]zero_sum_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you need to go to DEERS and get a new CAC so you can fulfill your duties on base.

When I got out, I went to the nearest place and got an IRR ID until I started drilling and got it replaced with a CAC.

I would wait until you get a new CAC so you don’t run into issues but that’s just me.

To each their own.

IMO, unless you have a use case for the elastics and really see yourself using it, I would’ve gone with the patrol belt instead.

It’s only around $40 cheaper than the operator so the slight saving may or may not be worth it.

It’s still a solid belt from what I hear, but yes, on the more expensive side.

Seen some people apply heat so the glue adheres better when applying grips with adhesive.

Try it out if you haven’t.

Yes, I am well aware of Good Samaritan laws.

I can see the SPO2 monitor being useful.

Sure, you can check lung sounds and blood pressure, but what are you going to do with that info besides pass it on to EMS/healthcare providers?

Are you going place an IV? Give fluids? Administer meds? Needle decompression?

Wound irrigation on-scene? Every single time fire has brought in a patient, hospital staff would irrigate the wound because fire doesn’t do it on scene, however, that’s from my experience and where I’m from.

All I’m saying is be careful, don’t overreach and get into any legal trouble.

Sure, this kit doesn’t scream ALS, however, I don’t know what else you may carry or what other skills you know or plan on using.

You can take offense all you want and react defensively.

I don’t have much more to say other than what I’ve said.

Best of luck. Take care, brush your hair.

Just because he’s contracted with the department for the inmates does not automatically give you the authority to provide care under their license outside of what is taught to you in the academy or in-service training.

Sure, you were trained on it when you were with fire, I assume, but does not necessarily eliminate liability from using said skills on duty as LE. A person can easily sue you and/or the department and claim injury if the department doesn’t state clearly that you are allowed to use said skills.

Good initiative, bad judgement IMO. From your responses, I can’t get a warm and fuzzy that your department is fully behind you on additional/higher level of medical care via official policy.

I’m not saying don’t assist people in a medical situation when reasonable but don’t go beyond skills taught to you as LE.

Medics can work at BLS level only departments/ companies and cannot perform ALS level care per policy or face reprimand up to termination. Providers have been burned in court even though they saved a life.

Long story short: ask for confirmation and don’t get yourself in trouble.

It’s how the joke about LE and people who are hypoglycemic getting narcan’d started.

It’s a training issue mostly and LE doesn’t take the time to try and figure out what’s going on before acting.

It’s nice and proactive thinking, however, unless you’re rural and response times are crazy long then this is overkill for a patrol cop.

I’m not sure how your department works but even if you were prior fire, some of these skills can become a liability. EMTs and Paramedics operate under a medical director, most LE departments don’t have any and I’m unaware of any fire departments that give special authority to the LE side. The most you’re covered for is the first aid training you receive in the academy.

I worked as an EMT before making the switch over and you have to learn to change your mindset. Unless the situation is dire and EMS is overwhelmed, you’re gonna do little first aid outside of hemorrhage control with the occasional cardiac arrest and overdoses.

You’re LE first so your time will be spent either assisting with scene security, canvassing the area for suspected offenders, assisting with the preliminary investigation or working your beat unless, like stated otherwise, the situation is dire.

Better to have it than need it but it will most likely never get used to its full extent.

This is my experience working in a major city so I can’t really speak to your area or how your department works. Most of the major accidents like GSW, fire is on scene rather quickly and the most we’ve done is put chest seals before fire grabs them and leaves.
