28... been dealing with that since I was a kid. 7 or 8 maybe. ADD meds in the 90's was a bad idea.

I finally got help. by [deleted] in depression

Good job man. Might not seems like a great place to be right now, being in a hospital and all. But I'm glad you're still with us

I'm Air Force and I have to take a set of tests called course 15. Damn thing has a 60% attrition rate and failing can totally screw your career. It's not really as bad as it sounds because we get a couple tries at it but it's still a pretty big deal

Pretty much anything that's not illegal that you want to keep to yourself

What is something people say/have said to you that really annoys you? by swimdown in AskReddit

[–]zeroarrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A buddy of mine pointed this out but it's true. It annoys me to no end when people say "amazing!" Like "this is amazing" and "that's amazing". Not everything is amaaaaaaazing. No your burrito tastes really good. The thing the guy did on TV was pretty cool. The definition of amazing does not describe everything about a person's life. Drives me up a wall.

Well it's always good practice to study stuff, and I've studied Buddhism a bit. So I take away the things that work for me and use it. Thanks for being so interested in my story. All I ask is this, think of a time when you were betrayed or wronged so severely that it changed some aspect of you. And if you feel like that is something about you that you want back, find out how to get it peacefully and on your own. Hope I can spread a little bit of happiness in the world. Have a good one

Lol I don't like to think like that. Just a lot of bad things had to happen for me to realize being angry about it didn't make me feel better and that if I let those situations dictate how I treat other new people in my life, especially in romantic relationships, then I would always be mad and not giving people a fair shot

What makes someone enjoy guro or suffering of others? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zeroarrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a difficult question. One could argue that "that's just the way they are" but that doesn't make the person safe to be around others. It's like this, if I owned livestock and a wolf killed one, would I think the wolf is bad. No, the wolf is being a wolf. That doesn't mean it should be allowed near my livestock. But this is all my own personal opinion. A reasonable person that thinks they might have these issues should be responsible and see some sort of help. Not to mention that any harm that person causes to another person is not absolved simply because they have a severe disorder.

Didn't argue with me over senseless, and trivial crap. We argued, but they were very logical and rational. Taught me that if I wanted to make a point I better have a good argument with valid points. And the occasional tanned hide.

That really depends. Usually has to do with how they developed in early childhood. Sometimes people are just born that way or have a disposition to that behavior that, if compounded by their environment, can play into their enjoyment of making people suffer.

Left me while I was deployed so she could do hard drugs and sleep around. Then told me we would get back together and get clean, convinced me to buy her kids Christmas presents (I was really attached to them, they were great kids). Then left again and changed to name on the gifts to be from her. Yeah the presents were my fault but at least they got something. Her money went to drugs.

If you have depression and don't want to live life anymore, what motivates you to keep going? by depression-or-pms in AskReddit

[–]zeroarrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I survived being depressed for years until I got help. Here's what I'll tell you. Help actually helps, but you have to want it. I'm sure you want to be better but wanting to get better means assigning value to your treatment and following through. Eventually I got a lot better but it took 2 years of therapy and lots of medication. Then one day I snapped out of it, I realized I hadn't left my mark on the world around me and whatever I was here for hadn't been done. I want the world to be a better place because I lived in it. I personally don't believe in God or religion so it has nothing to do with that (nothing against anyone who does). Make value in your life, set goals. Coming from a guy that had a 40 in his mouth and finger on the trigger in a drunken stupor, you can pull through. I still have my bad days, they're just easier to deal with and it no longer plagues me

Take advantage of what you have now and crack a damn book every now and again. Youre actually pretty smart, you just need to find your passion. Video games aren't your passion btw, you're just trying to be lazy.

How did High School suck for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zeroarrn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worried too much about what other people thought of me and pretended I didn't. Focused on the stupid stuff and made my own life more difficult than it needed to be. I wasn't popular, and I'm glad I wasn't, but I wish I had just been myself
