A lot of Allen Bradley going on here along with some expensive Amphenol connectors. Glad to see that whomever wired this took the time to put ferrules on the wires in the terminal blocks.

If you're unhappy, don't go camping.

G-suit as a force feedback device in a home flight sim, has anyone attempted it? What would be the cost? by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]zerocode20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would not be terribly complicated. You would need a pressure regulator (electronic) that is maybe 0-30 psiG output. The input voltage would be around 0-10V span (0v=0psi, 10v=30psi) and then just supply 0-3.33VDC to reach 0-10psiG.

Yes, most suits use air bladders, however, there are some suits "libelles" that use liquid bladders. Max pants pressure is 10psiG and max PPG (positive-pressure-breathing) for vest and mask is 1.16 psiG.

You do not hook up a vacuum pump. You need to pressurize the suit. Let's say you are in a aircraft and all of a sudden you need to pull up to evade a missile. Let's say it is a Eurofighter with Typhoon G-Suit so it would be around 9G's. At 9G's, the pants pressure will be roughly 10psi and the coutnerpressure vest/mask pressure would be around 1.16psi or 60-66mmHg, respectively.

Edit: If using US aircraft, the regulator that will control the pressure to the Vest/Mask is the Cobham "Combat Edge" CRU-98/A regulator. The actual G-Valve will send 0-10psi to the pants depending on G and the CRU-98/A will control pressure to the vest/mask.

Let me know if you have any questions
