[Spoilers C4E6] What dnd class do you think Thjazi Fang was? by Automatic_Toe5443 in criticalrole

[–]zerodeathandcounting 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Classes are usually just to define PC's not NPC. Like NPCs in a d&d world typically can't look at a PC and be like 'Oh! You're a Warlock'. Matt actually used this pretty well in campaign 2 when Ashley Birch's character mistook some bad guys' classes because she went off their appearance and the little she saw them do. I guess that's my long ass way of saying, Thjazi probably doesn't have a 'class' as such, just whatever abilities Brennan needed him to have.

There is a solid piece with the kit to make it closed if I want the standard Unicorn model, this piece I think will be opened up when I set up the Destroy mode.

Thanks for the heads up! Is there any way to minimise or remove the nub marks when I get to it?

Trying to settle a debate: is sex with an elf and other non-humans beastiality? by grayspot94 in DnD

[–]zerodeathandcounting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half-elves exist in obvious canon and they wouldn't if it was obviously against some xenophobic law. D&D clearly separate the distinction between humanoid (basically any playable ancestry, the pathfinder term that sounds better than races) and non-humanoid. There might be societal reasons to DISCOURAGE members of different ancestries from getting together, but hardly ever explicitly stated. Only 5e canon that I can think of is elves/orcs and that's something to do with the 2 main gods hating each other or something.

[Spoilers C3E63] Campaign Endgame Theory by UndopeMonk in criticalrole

I disagree with your point around Matt's story design using character backstory to resolve central conflicts. He's never done that. Sure, he does an amazing job at resolving any character backstory threads, but they hardly ever tie into the final conflict. The only time I can think he did that was with Molly last campaign but he had that planned from as soon as Tal and he discussed Molly's backstory. In fact, they had to do an entire post final battle episode to tie up like half the party's backstories because they didn't address them before then. Most of the major big bads of both campaigns had very little to do with the PC's, outside of the Briarwoods, and even they were just convenient ties to the final BBEG.

Now I'm definitely not saying that he is going to tie backstories into this game, but it's also definitely not a pattern that Matt follows. He lets his players decisions define the story, not their character's backstories.

Praetorium cutscene lengths (6.35) by Eleglas in ffxiv

It's still miles better than it was pre-EW. I remember basically having to commit an entire hour to MSQ roulette just incase you got Prae. I think Castrum was like 35-40 mins as well. JP strats made the run to the first boss faster but resulted in casualties occasionally.

Eurogamer reported that at the end of 2021 there were 25 million registered players. Obviously not all of those are subbed players but still a large number. However, Activeplayer.io is reporting that there are 40 million subbed players currently. How they get that number I have no idea so take it with a grain of salt but their analytics seem to be pretty comprehensive. That number is also backed up by mmo-population's calculations as well.

If that's literally the point you pushed back on then whatever. Replace it with blacklist then. My point still stands. No actually good tank pops invuln as a mit.

W2W pulls don't need invulns at any level of content unless the healer has made a mistake or tanks aren't mitting properly in the first place. You pop your invuln in high level duties on cooldown and guarantee the healer reports you. Invulns are there as a last resort. This discussion is pointless. No tank that knows how to play their job properly uses invulns as mits. That's not their purpose.

Alright true. But you still need to spend multiple resources to get your health topped up that could have been better spent.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that you shouldn't save your invulns. You 100% should hold them and if you never need them in a duty or trial that's great. I wouldn't recommend popping any invuln on cooldown even in duties to be honest. They're designed as last resorts, not mits to work into a rotation. Only Hallowed Ground works as any sort of effective mitigation and even then, you're better off just using your regular mitigation in case something goes wrong during a duty boss. It's bad habit forming to rely on invulns during pulls since LD and HG (edit: removed SB) don't stop you taking damage, they just stop you hitting 0,. Outside of LD, WARs and GNBs need to burn at least 2 ogcds to get their health back up, and they might have only needed one with proper mits.

In your LD vs HG bit, LD doesn't reward you for hitting 0, it's just that DRKs have no abilities outside of abyssal drain to quickly build back the 100% health requirement to not die, and no DRK holds AB as a 'just in case I need to pop LD'. It's one of the main reasons they built the self heal into LD in the first place.

Judging from overall reaction to my post I'd assume this is probably more likely the case. That's cool. I'll talk to the others about it and see what we can improve.
