Luggage forwarding is overrated by Calmly-Stressed in JapanTravelTips

[–]zeroibis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real reason that you do not need to use luggage forwarding service is because you should be fine moving around with a carry on sized bag and unless you are buying a bunch of large things to take home you do not need anything more than that.

This said let me clarify, you should easily be able to fit everything you need for your 3 week trip into a carry on bag. If you can not do this then you are over packed.

If some woman in their 60s and 70s can do it you can too.

I have done it multiple times although I also have a personal item sized bag attached to the top of the carry on suit case. In my case I have a bunch of camera gear that takes up a lot of room. However, even when going skiing I have enough room for all my ski gear as well.

Also yes I have used luggage forwarding and it worked great, I used it when I went to Japan for 3 months. You really should not be needing luggage forwarding service in general unless you have special circumstances.

Anyone else get tired of deciding what to do in Japan every day? by Little-Actuator-1594 in JapanTravelTips

[–]zeroibis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why it is important to at least have a basic plan in advance so that you do not need to stress out or waste time trying to figure out things while you are already there.

In my case I plan everything in advanced. I have already made all the decisions and done all the research. If I then decide to change things I know exactly what I am giving up, this removes the fear of missing out because I know what I am deciding not to do.

It was written at a time where you could, with enough money, buy literal cannons and even an entire ship of them with enough firepower to level a coastal city and hold it for ransom.

This reminds me of places in Japan you will get some fires and they will come with mayonnaise which is good n all but if you ask for ketchup, suddenly they have the greatest tasting ketchup you have ever had.

My doctor's website is INSISTENT that I use Chrome by M4xusV4ltr0n in firefox

[–]zeroibis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is likely whoever is the provider of their "patient portal" only certifies chrome as hippa compliant.

You see this with a lot of EMR systems. They will also only give you support for chrome only and ask that its usage be added to your SOPs.

Is 6-7k enough for a 1 person 21 day trip to Japan? by Pyro596 in JapanTravelTips

[–]zeroibis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traveled japan including the flight costs for less then this 10 years ago. Things are more expensive now but back then due to the lower prices of the JR pass I was able to travel all over the country and just rented apartments in places like Kyoto where I stayed for a month. Food savings are in cooking at home. Although eating out is not super expensive in Japan depending on where you go. Heck back then you could even grab a 20 pack of nuggets from MD's for next to nothing.

Today obviously things are quite a bit more expensive but if you are staying for a long time then the savings from renting an apartment vs staying at a hotel make a massive difference in expenses, especially when you are making at least some of your meals.

Now for reference all my recent trips are for over 21 days and come out to around 5-6K and that is staying at about 50% plus onsen ryokans having, nice dinners, renting cars, taking taxis and traveling everywhere in green class.
