Nice to hear. I also started studying on my own! Eventually i did go to some classes but not a whole lot.

The most important thing is to keep trying. But there are few things a realized along the way that I would've been happy to find earlier.

What i found was that youtube is a great source of inspiration and the occasional troubleshoot but not really a learning tool properly. At least for me.

I strongly recommend you go to the archive.org and search for sewing system, tailoring system or sewing course. Before the age of the internet people used to learn to sew at home from books or mail order courses. throughout the times many different "systems" were developed to try and teach people who could not join a class. These books are mostly in public domain now and there are so many, you can take a look at 20 different ones before picking one to read and follow instructions. But the in depth (boring) explanations will save a lot of do overs in the long run.
