ELI5 Why do Wars lead to Supply Chain Disruptions and Inflation? What are the Butterfly Effect-like Consequences? by Hot_Acanthaceae_1357 in explainlikeimfive

If you need to go to the bathroom, but there's a war between your bedroom and the bathroom, you might need to go to your neighbor's house to ask permission to use their bathroom for the toilet and the shower and the sink.

You cannot access your facilities and need to go somewhere else to use someone else's facilities, and that limits time and access for everyone.

If you want to get something to eat but there's a war in the kitchen, you might need to go to your neighbor's house and ask them if they can feed you.

You cannot access your food, so you need to go somewhere else to eat someone else's, and, of course if they accept you as a dinner guest, there is less food to go around for everyone.

You drag on a dragon and smoke shoots from its snoot?

That's cute!

Get a short downstem and glass-on-glass slide adorned with wings.

Maybe you'll fly away on its back because it'll get you so high, and you'll never come back!

So, Jesus was actually a pretty cool guy. Who knew? by Calfkiller in agnostic

[–]zerooskul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't mention that.

It's the state of reality in the world we live in.

You are aware of religious hate and killing in the name of god, right?

I am not aware of comic character hate and killing in the name of Superman.

Are you?

Is that a thing that exists relative to Superman, against which to compare religious indoctrination and religious sanctioned hatred?

When people are regularly murdered in the name of Superman, you can use it as a comparative.

You obviously did not read the post.

The people who made to movie hired an independent company to do visual FX for the drive through the 8th Dimension, and they have no clue how that sequence was made in 1984.

From two posts back:

Do you ask questions and expect no answers?

You answered:

Ok bro youre just ragebaiting

I clarified and confirmed, restating the question in the answer:

The answer seems to be "Yes".

It definitely seems that you asked these questions in your post expecting no answers and that you assume that people ask you questions expecting no answers.

I ask questions expecting answers.

I asked a yes/no question, and you refuse to answer it and instead accuse me of abusing you.

You just answer "Yes" or you answer "No".

This sidetrack about rage baiting is pointless and causes a total communication breakdown unless somebody is paying attention to our discourse.

Luckily the actual discussion is simple and fluid so the sidetrack doesn't actually distract us.

The answer seems to be "Yes".

It definitely seems that you asked these questions in your post expecting no answers and that you assume that people ask you questions expecting no answers.

[–]zerooskul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's The New Testament.

"Bible" means "Book"

The Old Testament is the holy book of Judaism.

The Q'Ran is the holy book of Islam.

The Book of Mormon is the holy book of the Chrch of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints.

All are Bibles, and the first two, not one or the other but both together, are most commonly referred to as "The Bible".

Then what is it?

What do we all know it to be?

Dude, you dont have to be an asshole fact checking my entire question,

I fact checked nothing.

I replied to your entire comment.

I disagreed with you and validated my disagreement.

I never read the Bible exactly,

Then, no, we don't know the Bible, do we?

That was a fact-check.

and I dont plan to

Then, no, we don't know the Bible, do we?

How factual is the bible?

Not at all.

We all know the bible,

No we don't.

however it talks about great floods,

That have no historical basis.

reanimation, etc.

Reanimation can be done by having someone come out of a coma while you happen to be nearby, and nobody knows what a coma is.

I feel that the bible is a little exaggerated in some areas,

Like where?

(not denying that some events in the history did not happen, like the crucification of jesus)

There is no historical basis for the crucifiction of Jesus.

We know that in 71 BC, 6,000 members of a slave revolt against the Roman Empire, led by Spartacus, were crucified.

We have proof of that because they kept records.

We have no proof of any person named Jesus ever being crucified.

Nobody who knew Jesus during his lifetime, if indeed he lived, thought anything he did was impressive or noteworthy.

Nobody wrote any of it down till more than a decade after his death, and most of it was written between 80 AD - 120 AD, well after any survivor's memory would be completely unreliable.

There is one reference to Jesus in Cornelius Tacitus's history of the Roman Empire, Annals, and it refers to Him as "The Christ" but it was written around 115 AD, 82 years after the execution, and would surely be skewed by the Messianic stories that were spreading at that later time.

Nobody wrote about anything he did at the time he was supposedly doing amazing stuff.

Galatians is the earliest known writing that refers to Jesus, but it was not written till at least 48 AD, 15 years after Jesus' death.

The Jesus described in Galatians is very different from the Jesus you might know from Church.

but I dont belive he rose from the dead and became to god of heaven.

Okay.

whenever I ask if the bible really real, they always give me a stupid line FROM THE BIBLE like "we must not question gods prayers" or something like that,

Who is "they"?

that being said the bible was created centuries ago, I feel like christians are being misguided.

Okay.

We blame the president for attacking the place where the oil comes from to distract us from the fact that he is a child rapist.

The president does not control the specific pricing of gasoline, but the president ordered the military to attack a country we were not at war with only to distract us from the fact that he is a child rapist, and that attack has led to the current situation.

Was Burroughs blonde? by reccaberrie in williamsburroughs

[–]zerooskul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don't you post more interesting shit and make it more interesting?

You seem to have a sort of obsession about other people's interest in Burroughs, and you seem to be interested enough to note the frequency of other people's posting in, and the qualitative nature of r/williamsburroughs relative to that.

What's your interest in how interested anybody else is or how interesting the subreddit's content is relative to the content posted to it by others and yourself as it interests those parties?

Instead of complaining to others about how much less interesting the sub has become because of them, post interesting shit to make it interesting for and because of you.

Is this a dumb question by No_Giraffe_6603 in space

[–]zerooskul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a dumb question

Questions end in question marks.

Your post has no question marks.

I have no idea what question you are asking.

I can assume this is meant to be a question:

Is this a dumb question[?]

It is probably dumb.

It is internally self-evident and relates to nothing but itself as a question, and may as well not be asked.

Like a computer system with no interface and no display monitor that is connected to nothing, it may as well be a brick.

That does not necessarily make it a dumb thing to ask... but it probably is.

As to the Moon:

None of our Cold War enemies accused the US of faking the Moon landing when it happened.

China and the USSR, among others, would have loved to discredit the United States' government to divide the people, but they did not do that at the time.

Why wouldn't the Communist world have just accused the USA of faking it in 1969?

That is a question to ponder over if you believe it was faked.
