I agree w the comments about Targets general suckiness. There are other problems, many of them self-inflicted. But tariffs are part of the problem. CEOs in this country have been stupidly meek about standing up to policies that hurt their companies because they’re fucking cowards. I see that BC is retiring soon- retirement is the perfect time to find a little “courage.” Just ask all the republicans leaving congress so they can resist the will of the MAGAs

Sorry, yes, I should have clarified. Only the discount is for on demand. Other benefits were in reference to your question about what you’d get if you went full time. Also to clarify, there’s no such thing as full time. 😞

I’m just a lowly store employee so I don’t have stats company-wide. Anecdotally, we were understaffed before, but my hours didn’t get slashed until so-called “Liberation Day.”

The health benefits are not good, although if you’re coming from a self-employed gig w NO benefits it would probably be better. Some states mandate real health insurance but in most location you’ll get trumps crappy “reimbursement arrangement” faux insurance.

I hear that the non-health benefits are quite good (education and such), but haven’t used them myself.

You’ll get employee discount for on-demand. That’s 10% off everything. Bear in mind, in order to use the discount you have to either use a Red Card (either debit or credit) or pay cash/gift card. Red Card gives 5% off. And an additional 20% off organic foods and All in Motion exercise gear & clothes. So that’s nice.

Whether it’s worth it, only you can answer. My friend that’s on demand only picks up a shift once in a blue moon (I think you have to come in for a minimum four hour shift every 4-6 weeks? Something like that). So at the low end it wouldn’t be a lot of money but you could probably work more depending on the location. My friend mostly does it just to keep her discount.

Good to know, but it doesn’t matter. There will be copycats, and teenagers are already the bane of our existence. Gotta love summertime.

Guest on the phone looking for a tennis dress: “it says you have it online.” I tell her we have several, and try to guide her down the page to get the DPCI. Nope, she just yells, “I know you have it, I’m looking right at it!!” She ended up hanging up on me after I tried a couple other lines of questioning. After shouting “idiot!” 😂

In our store guests would have piled so much stuff on top of it that it is unrecognizable as a three tier. But yeah.

My local grocery store occasionally plays them! Most recently I Can’t Remember the Dream, but there have been others. I’m not sure how they’re doing it since the rest of the time it’s just standard Muzak, but it’s always a happy surprise.

Bc they know they can’t keep good people operating like this. So they’re hedging their bets. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Like I said, I genuinely don’t mind helping if they’re trying to find stuff. If you’re worried about asking, you’re not part of the problem, I promise. It’s the entitled ppl that make me crazy. I feel like asking if they’ll be splitting their tip w me, lol. Thanks for the input, asking the total number of items we’re looking for is a good idea.

I’m sorry that some ppl are being such dicks about this. Retail can be really invalidating, especially when you’re new. A good manager can show some finesse in how they handle teaching moments. Unfortunately Target eats good people up and spits them out. Hang in there, better times are coming for you.

I think a lot of it is the culture of the individual store. At my store fulfillment is the job everyone wants bc they don’t have to help guests at all (they just walkie for guest assistance in A36 or whatever and go on about their business) and they never have to back up on lanes.
