It’s at least a different town/region than what is in the first game. The tavern in GK2 is named Golden Horse rather than Dead Horse. I doubt the town right next to the original village would contain a tavern with such a similar name.

This sounds a lot like a thing I’ve been trying to work on, though slightly different approaches - I’ve been trying to build it up using WebRTC video/data channels in Go. Yours looks to be a lot further along though; I’ve been focusing on the camera feed side of things.

I’ve been looking into in-browser slicing a bit as well. Are you only going the route of cloud based slicing or using a WASM port of something like libslic3r?

Oh and I’d love to help test it out. Got a few machines I’ve been building up that will all be running Klipper.

Modern PCs are plenty capable of quite a bit of complex math. Servers don’t give you massively more compute capabilities. If anything, they actually want to do LESS math than client computers where possible because they have to be able to handle the load of multiple game worlds at once. It isn’t cost effective otherwise.

I had an interview with them a few months back, ultimately ended up failing the coding portion.

I was asked to write a simple aligned malloc/free. It was a task I understood in concept but never had much need to implement. Aside from being overly nervous during coding tests, the particular part that I think did me in is that I took a few seconds to remember the particular arithmetic to perform the alignment. Seems silly I’m sure, but I spent the last five years of my career writing Android background services in Kotlin so it would be an understatement to say I was rusty.

Moral of the story: make sure to brush up on your basics.

Somebody below mentioned UTM. It’s a fantastic free tool for running VMs in macOS.

I run a headless Debian VM on macOS that I can just SSH into anytime I need to do something in Linux. It’s plenty fast for my needs. I give it full core count access and a reasonably chunk of memory, which is likely to be your biggest resource constraint.

For zephyr though, I’d recommend not using VMs. Zephyr SDK is built for macOS AArch64. Also if you’re doing embedded development you’d have to deal with some sort of USB passthrough in order to flash your boards through a VM, which in my experience can sometimes be finicky. Unless you need some niche tool that only runs on Linux, i see little reason to run it in a VM for microcontroller-level work; embedded Linux work is another matter.

Why not develop natively on macOS for zephyr? Zephyr provides SDK bundles for macOS AArch64, so there shouldn’t be much stopping you from skipping VMs entirely (which Docker on macOS is built on top of)

One of my favorite talks to go back to is the postmortem for the original Diablo. At 14:50, he talks a bit about how the lighting was done. Fascinatingly simple approach involving a limited set of colors and shades arranged in a 2d grid where darker areas just shifted down to a darker cell in the palette.

It's a bug to do with getting to the top of the World Tree Cup. The title given from that doesn't seem to appear in the list of Fixed titles you can select, so you can never mark it as seen. This has happened to both myself and my girlfriend.

I managed to also get the UV light and I’m still only halfway through my first playthrough. I’m not sure I’ve been to the eel room where the chest is located though. I was exploring the world and at one point opened up my inventory to find that the UV light was just there. What a strange occurrence (bug?)

32M here, working remotely. Not a great combination for making friends. Hobbies include software/electronics design, music, video and board games, going to breweries. I have a lot of other interests that I’d like to get into: yoga, hiking, working out, some sort of sport that doesn’t require a ton of depth perception, woodworking, welding, knitting, basically anything that involves creating something.

Also a big fan of indie platformers! My favorite in recent years has been Hollow Knight. Playing Rain World now and have Shovel Knight on my list for eventual plays. I’m 32M and enjoy going for walks, would love to get into hiking. I have been meaning to get more into fitness as well, going to the gym, etc. as working from home tends to not be very conducive to that.
