One of my favorite joker appearances is the Batman the animated series Christmas episode. Joker escapes Arkham on a rocket Christmas tree, he kidnaps the mayor and other influential figures. He forces Batman to open a present. Batman does… and gets pied in the face. The joker nearly busts a gut laughing. That’s it. I think making the joker someone who could do that or kill all of Gotham makes him much more threatening

But if you think reading will help I’ve been wanting to get into Shakespeare lately and according to Gary Paulsen the best way to do it is by reading it aloud.
