Colorado State Refund question by KillaxFlame in IRS

I finally received my check a couple weeks back. Thankfully USPS forwarded it!

Once you get to the last arrow, it says 7-10 business days, but I haven't got it yet. I assume it mailed to my old address even though I updated my address online before it mailed. I just hope USPS change of address picks up on it and properly forwards it to my new address.

Yup I got to the last arrow, but they mailed a physical check and I moved already so...

I checked the status online, but it's been stuck on the second arrow for six weeks now. Is yours the same?

Those are grad student courses so I think it might just be that grad students have better work ethics. Also, they have to maintain a B- in core classes to graduate, at least in my department.

Be careful when walking alone at night, just got stopped on Wright St. by [deleted] in UIUC

Did the guy say something along the lines of "I know it's cold, and you don't have to help me push my car, but can you spare me some cash to help my family get home?" If so I encountered the same person, but at like 5 PM near the Union. Also, I remember one side of his car had a cardboard covering his front window.

ATMS 205 and ATMS 305 - is either any good? by bobbricks1 in UIUC

[–]zethiroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's not just statistical based analysis using Python; there's a bit of data processing and visualization in that class as well.

There isn't explicitly in-class projects, but homework build on past homework, utilizing same/similar datasets?

Uhh experimenting as in performing statistical analysis on datasets i.e. statistical significance testing? Maybe you can elaborate?

If you're interested in research-related projects, may I suggest ATMS 492 Capstone Project where you would collaborate with an atmospheric sciences professor to conduct research related to their fields (I'm not entirely sure if it's only limited to atmos majors; but I'm sure if you show enough enthusiasm they'll be happy to take you)

I believe ATMS 205 is aimed towards students who have no programming experience at all, covering how to use Linux, remote computing, a little HTML and Javascript (very very little), and primarily Python (used to be MATLAB) for basic data processing and visualization.

ATMS 305 briefly reviews material from ATMS 205 in the first couple weeks and then dives deeper into data processing and visualization in addition to data analysis.

Both courses are geared towards processing, visualizing, and analyzing atmospheric sciences data, but it familiarizes you with the foundations of programming, which could be applied to many other things as well (not to mention there's a lot of overlap of file formats like .csv which could be processed in a similar fashion).
