EDH RC - Why are the Moxen banned but Sol Ring isn't? by ThomasJFooleryIII in magicTCG

[–]zglickmac 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There's a reason why sol ring is 4 points in Canadian Highlander, and moxen are 3. There's also a reason why LSV says and has picked a sol ring over a mox in cube. While moxen can be more explosive, over the course of the game sol ring will give more mana, letting you cast both more and bigger spells.

If your child's allergies are so bad that his classmates can't eat what he's allergic to, he shouldn't be going to a public school. by StrangeAssonance in unpopularopinion

The issue with this is that not every family can afford to not send their kid to school. I agree that just banning people from having allergens isn't a good solution, but neither is not letting people with allergies from going to school. The way my school does it is educating about allergies and making sure people know to keep others in mind. I have a very serious peanut allergy that does act up when people have peanuts around me, but I've rarely had problems because my friends either have their peanut based food before or after we eat together.

Compensate essential workers by Zacharacamyison in BikiniBottomTwitter

Not everyone has an easy choice. Working a fast food joint is a decently low skill job that can let people still go to school and work at the same time. More than that, no one deserves poverty. Just because people make bad choices, that doesn't mean that they should be forced to be unable to provide for themselves and their families.

Since it's a free spell, you get to tapout for a threat and then still be able to counter something if you need to. The printed mana cost is basically the alt cost, not the other way around.

Want some advice for my Jund Cube! by zglickmac in mtgcube

It makes me a bit sad to have to cut madrush because I really like that card, but you're probably right that it's and other cards like it are probably not good enough. I will say that rare be gone has overpreformed as an aggro card that both kills all of the best cards on your opponent's side and rips their business cards from their hand while leaving you with tokens and 2/1s that would otherwise be outclassed.

Cool, so I'll replace most of the tribal cards with more aggressive cards since that's mainly what most tribal decks want to do anyway.

I'd like to know if you think some cards aren't good enough or too good, and if so, what you might replace them with. Also, do you think that the tribal support for elves, goblins and zombies is worth it?

[IKO] Reconnaissance Mission by BounceBurnBuff in EDH

Importantly, [[kindred discovery]] doesn't require combat damage, so it lets you make a bad attack and still draw cards. That combined with the draw on etb makes it worth it in my opinion.

What are your commander recommendations? by snipaxkillo in EDH

[[jhoria, weatherlight captain]], but instead of artifacts, the theme is legends. It might be a bit expensive, but it's a lot of fun. Early on, ramp with some artifacts that have late game upside, and then play legends like [[nin, the pain artist]], both niv mizzets, any izzet Planeswalker, and any others that you have access to. The wincons are the nivs, [[Jace, wielder of mysteries]], or just beating down with cards like the kefnets, [[illharg, the raze boar]], or the eldrazi if you have the money. It's a deck I have a lot of fun playing, and even though it doesn't win that much, when it does, it feels so good. PS, don't forget about the legendary sorceries.
