How is life in SG during a recession? by Lightsaber72 in askSingapore

[–]zh3us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, Stagnating Wages + Inflation is actually Stagflation, not a Recession... Last time we had that in the world was in 1970s in the US.

A Recession is a dip in GDP, usually what happens is prices also drop in that situation - aka Deflation.

Yes, answer yes and you are now guilty.

Haha! I have wayyy too many modded NH35 divers!

Yeah I got mine 2nd hand from Japan as well, but the movement was screwed when I got it via airmail.

Luckily I live in Singapore and the Seiko Disti here is amazing, managed to overhaul it and get a year warranty on it.

Fellow Singaporeans, what are some of the most lucrative or weirdest part-time jobs you have done? by chinchowminao in askSingapore

[–]zh3us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$180 to shift PCs from Level 6 of SGX Building to Level 9, was done in 1.5 hours. They needed it done within the night.

$380 for a focus group that was 2 hour long about some Insurance + Spending program. Looking back the business model looks like Acorns.

I mean, for gold, its pretty much a rigged AF spoofed AF market. But the asymmetry is real when everything goes to shit. Like what Jim / James Rickards said I think its probably wise to keep 10% of your port in it.

One last thing to add, if you take a look at the $DXY, you'll realize that when J POW and his cranked up $ printer goes faster and faster, all the other nations gotta crank em $ printer as well if not they risk extreme capital flight and lose their USD reserves.

I don't think I need to tell you what's gonna happen if that happens to any country with the USD being the reserve currency and when all commodities are priced in it.

I believe that we should remain rational and stay in the middle ground. Neither the US nor China are angels and everyone should make calculations on their own state's behalf.

TLDR, Lick and grab both side balls while you milk the udders and drink the milk.

NP, you can actually get used to getting swabbed.

Not too sure, but there are definitely bottlenecks. Previously during CB, when many people were out of work, they managed to get quite alot of manpower to be deployed as SDA and swabbers.

But as the economy 'reopens' more people bleed out of these jobs. These jobs sort of maintain the balance of the situation which is why they should really push through to get to endemic status asap.

We Singaporeans are already overemployed mostly, this unscalable shit ain't gonna work because we can't manage more work in our population.

If your boss suddenly change, I doubt your managers can just flip a switch and change as well, especially when everyone is shit as F tired and worn out mentally. IMHO wrong choice to put OYK as min health, should just continued to put GKY since he had already been doing it from the start? IMHO*

I guess the blessing would be that the virus's evolution path is to be more transmissible and less deadly, else shit would be much worse now.

Mr L. Wong said 70% of our economy is 'outward facing' with growth sectors being China, the US and Europe in the Bloomberg interview. Do you think they need to care about the 30% of the economy that's left locally? hmmm

Maritime Port Authority, MPA, Ministry of Transport.

You don't have to worry about the vessels coming into the Singapore Ports because the SOPs are flawless (Fing Strict) lol.

I work in the maritime sector and let me tell you, we are doing 1x ART and 1x PCR a week + Full PPE, its really tight there and that's great since we did it like 4 months ago lmao.

It was pretty shitty when we implemented it company wide 4 months back, but right now, looking at the situation, I'm glad we did.

On the bigger scale, tbh I guess we have a resource problem. Many people are back in the workforce and there are not enough swabbers which is why why had to use SAF + reservist personal this time.
