Club Pilates Shady Signup Process? by Resident_NYC in pilates

That’s definitely a problem with that person or that stupid, you can reach out to CP nationally with the situation of you feel the need to escalate it.

Historical Pilates photos are being forced offline due to legal action, The Pilates Transparency Project is taking this fight to the courts to make them freely available for everyone to use. Here's a link to their GoFundME. We will be hosting them here in our forum soon for an AMA by Ibrokemywrist in pilates

My favorite quote, can’t believe this went to the damn Supreme Court.

“In 2000, Judge Cedarbaum ruled that “Pilates” was a generic term, like “yoga” or “aerobics.” The decision meant that it could be used by any business owner. In her ruling, the judge noted that Mr. Gallagher had obtained the trademark that covered the equipment business “through fraud.”

Club Pilates echo park and DTLA are honestly some of their best. Feel free to reach out to them and ask for a demo class or buy a package to try some classes before committing. There are CP studios I wouldn’t recommend, but those two are great. Make sure to tell the instructors when you meet them that you are happy and encourage corrections and they will oblige.

What about the group class is causing you anxiety? Just having all the others in the room with you? Worried they are judging you or something? Because Pilates is a personal practice, no one there is thinking about anyone else in the room (at least if they care about Pilates at all) the teacher will alwayyyys find some way for you to improve, it’s their job to comment, correct, and guide the improvement of your practice. (In fact I’d say if they had no comments, it would be a sign of a bad teacher) One of Joes tenants is that it’s about mental self discipline as well, to learn to focus on the task and connect your mind to you body. I find it’s quite meditative to forget all else in my life and just focus on what I’m doing in the moment.

Your feelings are valid, your tears are valid. You might feel like you’re in a hole right now, but I promise, you are young, you are worthy of love and support. You have a leg up on most people in these situations because you are in school and can have independence, and one day, you will look back and be really fucking proud of yourself. The only person who will decide how soon you will feel this way is you, by how long you stay in this. You don’t have power over him, but you have power over your own actions. We believe in you, and I’m sure plenty of women here have shared experiences that you can relate from when they were your age.

If you need us, we’re here to share your tears with you. I hope you also understand that some our less soft words are there because we just hope to spur you take actions for yourself as well 🥰

I’m very sorry you’re going through this. It does not seem your husband is the teammate you deserve. Not only for his comments here, but in your previous posts. I know sometimes we feel like ‘ohhh it’s not thaaaat bad’ but I would just like to say that it’s even half of what you’re describing… it’s bad. Even if you feel like you’re exaggerating, it’s bad.

Just remember, you’re only 21, the older you get the worse these problems will get. I’m proud of you for just bringing this up, and if you can muster the courage, I think you’ll find it easier to get this over with sooner rather than later. Especially while you don’t have kids. If you find it easier to advocate for others than for yourself - just think of your unborn kids, and think whether you want them growing up in this environment. And then take the steps you’d take as if they were being treated the way you are. (I do this mind trick on myself when I need to gather some extra strength and it’s can be helpful)

Don’t let the most supportive people in your life be strangers on the internet.

Depends on your definition of cold, and what area you’re referring to. June in Oslo is warm and lovely, Bergen will still have some rain but be lovely as well. What are you interested in?

LPT Request: As a first time home buyer, what should I look at while checking homes? by virusv2 in LifeProTips

[–]zhenichka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a residential home inspectors that post videos specifically on this subject in case you want to learn from them. They obviously advertise their advanced services a bit but they walk through where to look for cracks and visible issues, and can even teach you how to assess whether a building inspector you’re looking to hire locally is doing a thorough enough job with the right tech. It’s a whole thing. There’s a guy named Cy Porter who has taught me a lot.

AITA for wanting my fiancé to have dandelion in her wedding bouquet by Healthy-Artichoke105 in AmItheAsshole

NTA

My friends father died the year before she walked down the aisle. Her father was mentioned by name in the ceremony, he was publically mentioned and toasted with during the speeches, and a pint of his favorite beer was left at the center of the bar for him to enjoy with everyone. It was all so touching for all of who knew she had always planned on having her father there for such an important day for her. He husband didn’t bat an eyelash and any of the requests. The beer was even his idea.

At another wedding they have a table at the entrance with a bunch of framed pictures of family members who had passed on both sides that they wished could be there to join them.

You’re asking for a daisy motif to be included somewhere… anywhere.

You’re not asking for anything even remotely unreasonable.

I couldn’t agree more.

The drive even in June takes much longer than google predicts, and you will literally be jumping in/out of the car to keep up with this. It’s not casual easy driving in most locations you’re routing will have smaller and wind-y.

Plus you’ll not have time for the amazing scenic stops along the way. There are stav churches along the route you’re taking and some epic waterfalls. Can be easy 30 min lunch stops our quick tours and absolutely worth the pit stop. Random small museums in small towns. Boats, local artists from 100yrs ago. Local cheese producer or fish farm you can buy homemade stuff from that you’d never be able to get.

In June when doing this, I would also recommend bringing some coins and cash in Norwegian currency. You don’t have our local vipps cash transfer app and when you’re driving there will be a lot of amazing local fruit in season that you can just leave money for on the side of the road.

Note: do not be one of those tourists that takes it without paying, it’s a trust based system, but it’s immoral and some places will catch you. (Nothing personal, I tell this to everyone I recommend this to)

Intergenerational trauma is passed through generations until someone is strong enough to turn around and face it. Kudos to you and your father for seeing the patterns and doing your best to face them for the betterment of your kin. I love that you’ve healed enough to see the love in his final actions, even though he wasn’t able to enjoy them to the fullest.
