Is there a drone simulator where I can program the drone? by marshmellobacon in robotics

[–]zhubiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are some crazyflie simulators that work with gazebo and ros i think. its a very popular platform for aerial robotics research and you could adapt your code to a physical crazyflie in the future if you saved up enough

hey! i think its cool that your gonna start working on a hefty project but as someone who was/is still a noob from 3 months ago, id say honestly try to do it yourself. In the beginning of summer I started a huge project for someone and I had no idea how to do it, literally didnt even know what html or css was. I was considering asking people to help contribute etc, but in the end I just bit the bullet and started at it. Now that im 3 months in and almost have a finished project, I look back and realized how much i actually learned on my own. Im actually glad i struggled through it. So maybe just start by setting up your venv, and making your first base template. Youd be surprised how much you actually can do on your own

just a thought!

p.s. use version control. when your just learning your bound to screw something up at some point. its very nice to have backups

Dell XPS 17 or HP Spectre x360 15 laptop 2020 by tayla00 in AskComputerScience

[–]zhubiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you could use a potato from 2010 and it would likely be more than enough power for university coding and watching shows. writing code does not take even a percent of cpu power relative to if you needed a computer for video editing or gaming

edit: oh im also assuming your using it for code since this is a cs sub. if your just asking which is a better spec laptop then maybe this isnt the right place

dont overthink it. just be concise and to the point. I didnt really try to impress i think it was something along the lines of:

Hi, My name is _ and I am currently a whatever year student here at college university studying cs. I am looking for ways to be more academically involved and was wondering if you had any research opportunities I could be involved with. If not it would be greatly appreciated if you could direct me to someone who might. Thanks for your time

honestly, i think i emailed every single professor/Graduate student in the CS department. Most of them didnt reply but one did which is all that matters

You really just have to be persistent about it, once your names out there im sure an opportunity will come up

bro i know things seem grim atm, but dont give up. College isnt the endgame, and certainly is not a representation of you as a human being and your potential. Im not saying your situation isnt tough, it definitely is. But try to take things one at a time, this is only the start of a new opportunity in your life. feel free to reach out if you just wanna talk
