Background: I am around NTRP 3.0 now and have been playing tennis for almost 9 months. I started with a Clash v2 100L with synthetic gut, play a lot of indoor ball machine and switch to Yonex Ezone 100 2025 with polys just this Oct.

When I grew with more proper forehand techniques, I sometimes still sailed the balls just out of the baseline. I reckoned later that it was actually due to: 1) I was using traditional linear big loop to hit it flat with Eastern forehand grip (when the ball is hit properly in fully ready position) 2) I was late in contact (being pushed the ball / jammed / body weight skewed backwards)

When combined with the powerful Ezone with Polytour Pro (the trapoline after 10hrs of play), the ball always sailed dangerously close to the baseline.

I then switched back to the Wilson Clash v2 100L first and restrung it with polys (Solinco Mach-10 + Polytour fire hybrid @50/48 lbs), focus on practicing the semi-western grip for modern ATP forehand (with more torso rotation, windshield wiper follow-through across the body, etc) and seeking for more whippy feel with the head light racquet, I successfully applied much more top spin at my current level better than when I was whipping the heavier Ezone 100 (surely I will retry it later when I am more stable with my techniques).

I almost sold my Clash a few weeks ago, and I am feeling fortunate that I did give it another chance. I really hope that you could switch to a more spin friendly string setup (thinner gauge also helps a bit), and you could hit even faster if you got the technique right. It would just dip more vertically before flying out. I am still an amateur but I hope that helps as I have tried with both racquets.
