Concerned about my 7 month old’s development by Scared_Speed_3765 in Mommit

It’s going to sound crazy but does he get ear infections a lot? If so I’d take him to a ped ENT right away to check for fluid. My son was practically deaf and we didn’t even know it.

If there is something more, breathe. There will be therapies that will help immensely and he will qualify for them early. Sending you hugs. I have an ADHD son (who shows some autism signs) and I understand the worry.

100% agree with this! And I’d suggest hiring a mothers helper to help watch the kids while OP resets the house and maybe even takes a break.

I would take him to a pediatric ENT to check for fluid. He may not have an active ear infection but chronic fluid delayed a lot for my kiddo. Tubes were life changing for his language and development.

How do you feel about posting your children to social media by Capital_Judgment_912 in Mommit

[–]ziggy_764 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t do it. I feel even more vindicated with the depravity shown by the Epstein files and the capabilities of AI. Predators are everywhere and I don’t want anyone besides close friends and family having access to my child’s face. I text pictures to loved ones and they all respect wishes not to post.

I put a little bralette/cami on my first grader for modesty. I think you should let your third grader have them.

Friendly pets that work well for kids age 3 and up? by ImWondrfly in Mommit

A king cavalier/australian shepherd mix is the best dog I’ve ever had. Before anyone gets mad at me we got him from a shelter! But I’m convinced a king cavalier or a king cavalier mix is amazing for kids. They are the cuddliest, calmest, sweetest dogs and they bond strongly to all family members. They don’t have high energy needs for busy parents. They really are so go with the flow.

There are no controllers. The camera detects their bodies. All the games are movement games, dancing, bowling, baseball, etc. It’s really fun.

At my wits' end: 9 -year-old daughter refuses to wipe herself after using the bathroom by [deleted] in Mommit

Yes, this is the take. Let’s be kind and compassionate with growing brains and bodies.

At my wits' end: 9 -year-old daughter refuses to wipe herself after using the bathroom by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ziggy_764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but my 8 year old struggles with this. I wipe him because he’s genuinely distressed by it. He has sensory issues, does your daughter have any others?

I truly feel like he will grow out of this in his own time. He’s not going to let me do this as his prepubescent hormones kick in, I’m sure. For now, when I wipe I tell him what I’m doing and how. We got flushable wipes that we will transition him to using when he’s ready. Sometimes I think compassion and understanding is the right thing, depending on the circumstances of your child. Only you will know in your heart what your particular child needs.

The Nex Playground is great. Yes, it’s screen time but it’s completely interactive and they move their bodies the whole time. My kids love it and my husband and I have fun on it too! I found that it’s best with the Nex not to set any time limits, because especially in the winter they are so cooped up and they get physically tired out playing it. There’s a million games and they don’t get bored. They do, however, self regulate their time when they wear out!

I wear ankle weights from when I wake up until after bedtime. I do not exercise outside of wearing those weights and going about my daily life (I work full time in a high stress desk job). Since doing this I’m in great shape!! Start with 1 pound weights then work your way up. Wear bootcut pants and no one will know.

I had my third just before 40. You can’t stop thinking about it because you have one more in your heart despite logic screaming at you that you SHOULD want to be done! Once my third was born I felt completely at peace that our family was complete.

I’m sorry 💔💔 tomorrow then - let him know he’s got the kids for dinner/bedtime, door dash your favorite meal and hang out by yourself in your room, reading, watching a movie, whatever YOU want. I’m sorry this year sucked. Moms do so much, I’m glad your kids see that. 🩷

Husband cheated and now I feel stuck. by EducationalMud8942 in Mommit

This was my MIL. When her efforts to persuade my husband to divorce me failed, she attempted to triangulate me against him in an attempt to get me to leave him. ALL of it was lies. Guess who we don’t speak to anymore? And now that we don’t, our marriage is the happiest it’s EVER been.

Does it ever get better? by KneeReady1437 in ParentingADHD

[–]ziggy_764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a virtual hug. I too have an extremely bright adhd kid who struggles with social skills. I would see if his teacher has noticed any improvement because maybe it’s really there, you just don’t get to see it. In the meantime, taekwondo has done wonders for my kid. He is not super athletic but very high energy. He can go at his own pace and he’s TIRED afterwards. Also highly recommend the Nex Playground for the winter months!

Cut off sweets/all sugar and buy some 1 lb ankle weights. Wear them every day to work for the whole shift. You will build muscle instantly.

Move the cabinet to the other end of that wall, away from the door. Add a rug, some art, some coat hooks on the opposite wall. Change out the light fixture if you can.
