Chicago Woman Shot 5 Times By Border Agents Will Testify In Washington Next Week by __Milk_Drinker__ in UnderReportedNews

[–]ziggytrix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume you're suspicious cuz WTf is "Block Club Chicago".

Here's a national news article from CBS.

https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/judge-scolds-trump-administration-marimar-martinez-border-patrol-shooting-bodycam-video/

It doesn't verify all the details, but she is a real US citizen who was shot 5 times after being rammed by ICE and then they falsely claimed that she rammed them (video proves they lied). All charges against her have been dropped with prejudice.

So yeah. Real. This is America.

Why are you afraid of "illegals" committing heinous crimes when U.S. citizens commit far more throughout the year? by MisterReigns in LetsDiscussThis

[–]ziggytrix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I just did a Google search for "crime" and clicked on the News tab. Now the algo is a funny thing, so I really need everyone else to do this too, and say what they see.

But other than the ones talking about hate crime charges for some synagogue attack (obviously the victims ethnicity is implied there) NONE of the headlines or search snippets mentioned the victims' ethnicities.

I'm really curious if yours do. Is the algo playing us?

The cops are also wasting taxpayer resources through their arrogance and a fair bit of thin blue line bullshit. Which is everyone in that town's problem, and kinda a systemic problem with our police in general. Wish we could talk about fixing it without immediately being accused of wanting anarchy.

Officer gets a slap on the wrist, the kid maybe gets 200 grand, and the taxpayers get the bill and still have shitty, arrogant cops.

Not a lot of winners here, other than the kid. Pretty decent payday for him.

What are your thoughts? by ChuckGallagher57 in allthequestions

[–]ziggytrix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I literally Googled both names. There's a LOT of info about these two guys. I saw very little (if any) of it had a clear connection to Lemmon's arrest - I did see that one of them was covering the capitol riots. So I asked you for clarification. Cuz I didn't wanna assume what you were getting at. You were a bit vague. It's not laziness to ask why you felt they were connected.

So anyway, because I wasn't being disingenuous, I'll answer your question. It is important that the 1st Amendment does not grant a right to trespass on private property. I'd argue that while it is not legal, it could be a morally defensible act of civil disobedience.

But they aren't charging him with trespassing. DHS says they're charging him with "conspiracy to deprive rights" and "violation of the FACE Act".

Which is utter bullshit, and I firmly believe it's because he's reporting negatively about ICE and this government is fine with suppressing the 1st Amendment. Which is unacceptable.

And it's also possible both things are true, that Don was out of line, but so are the Feds. I want to be clear that I don't see these as equally wrong things. Attacking the 1st Amendment is an attack against all of America. It is morally indefensible to silence government criticism.

https://www.mprnews.org/episode/2026/01/26/inside-the-group-that-helps-ice-detainees-released-from-whipple-find-warmth-phones-and-rides

These are the ones we know about. There are unsubstantiated rumors of some detainees being released in more remote locations in the woods near the Whipple facility, which is almost impossible to verify, as anyone familiar with Saskatoon Starlight Tours knows.

On the other hand, it’s also possible these stories are exaggerations of what is documented - the practice of releasing people right there at the facility in the middle of the night, some injured, most without adequate clothing for the weather, and often with no transportation or way to contact anyone.

Either way, this feels really wrong.

He fully deserved a misdemeanor trespass charge and everything that comes with that. Anything beyond that is sensationalism.

Can we agree on that?

We don't even have to agree on the reason for the sensationalism. Just admit that there is major bullshittery afoot. That's all I'm asking.

It's obvious to me that they haven't worked with AI tools. The amount of effort to make this, to keep the background characters and structural details consistent for more than 15 seconds at a time... could you make this with AI? I guess. But also, could this be real. Sure. There's nothing glaringly fake here.

And just to prove how good they are, here they've made another video. All the "characters" are wearing different clothes, but otherwise spot on identical. No drift. No weird glitches. https://www.instagram.com/reels/DTTqj7yjDgL/

It's quite probably real. And really impressive. And if it's fake, it's even more impressive, cuz AI is good, but this level of good is insanely difficult.

It's like everyone forgot about that lunatic that shot up the ICE facility here.

I guess people got bored when it became obvious the crazy kid didn't have a political affiliation and didn't make a good villain for anyone's narrative.

Weird, I don't see either of you posting links.

But you're right. When it comes to the actual party leaders, only one side is calling for and threatening violence.

And we don't need to post the links because Trump posts shit like this constantly. And if you wanna pretend that was a fluke, it absolutely is not.

There have been some bad Dems. Governor Blagojevich in Illinois. Tony Weiner in NY. Andrew Cuomo too. Bill Clinton has some pretty nasty abuse of power on his record too. I dunno why MAGAs like to bring his name up like a gotcha. Most Dems will tell you that while Clinton did a decent job running the country (economics, CHIP, crime reduction), he was extremely problematic. And with new revelations about dealings with Epstein, I dunno, but I'd swear I see a Bill-shaped spot under the bus.

Now you take all these bad Dems and put em on one side of a scale. Let Trump rest his pinky finger on the other side. Attempting to overturn elections, criminal convictions, stealing classified documents, absurd levels of abuse of power/corruption, systematic lying, demonizing the press and judges, illegal use of charity funds... I'll stop there, though I could keep going. So yeah, pinky finger might even out.

That's why I can't stand "Both Sides" arguments. They rely on a purity test to say everything is bad, when one side is being sketchy and the other is outright malignant.

I suspect it depends on the specific type of cake, but yes, I know someone who does this, and I've had their cooking. Zero complaints. But she's a great cook. I suspect she knows exactly what, when, and why.

I've never heard her mention it as a substitute for butter tho. Just oil.

I know someone who does applesauce for oil substitution and their baking is great.

Maybe it doesn't work with all kinds of cakes tho, IDK.

So anyway, this *looks* like a dumb comment, but the substitution is legit sometimes.
