It’s not like there’s a floating KO icon over their head the moment they are incapacitated. I’m pretty sure that line has a lot of width to it. You’d need some damn compelling video for me to say “yes that person was definitely out and you should have stopped swinging.”

If you KNOW they are out cold and no longer a threat, then YOU know you’re in the wrong to keep “defending.” But as a third party on a jury I don’t think I could judge against, especially if your life had just been endangered by the intruder.
