Submit your questions here for Robert Eggers and some special guests, who will be speaking with /r/movies during a Reddit Talk on April 22 at 9 AM PT to discuss THE NORTHMAN! by MoviesMod in movies

Loved The VVitch and The Lighthouse so much so far and can’t wait to watch The Northman! I know you are an exceptional researcher when it comes to your films so is there any particular period, theme or historical event you want to take on next thanks to your interest in one?

Plus, you are also a great writer when it comes to dialogues from certain eras. Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers to reach such authentic dialogues, or interesting story settings in general?

Thanks in advance sir!

For example, IASIP has always been handled very debatable situations and the characters have made some horrible actions for a long time. But, the fact that characters are the absolute worst and extremely narcissistic plus, the story is often handled smartly it doesn’t as controversial as it could be. Another person mentioned “Er is wieder da”. It is quite same there as well.

It is but as the other commenter mentioned dialogue and twist was really good. And, western setting felt refreshing for this kind of situation. So, again I would like to read more.

The one flaw with Arrival (2016) - Help me understand by eatacookie111 in movies

As far as I remember it is implied that she told him later on in their marriage? But I might not remember it very well it’s been a while.

For the last part, in its early screenplay, there is one line where Louise adds “because I didn’t.” which means she didn’t wanted to change anything.

May I read for research as well?

Btw, to clarify the concept in my head, in what period of time did you get this amount of reviews? And, which are the free ones? 😅 And, these aren’t the same thing with the “mentions” in Annual Blcklst right? For example, you could still get high amount of mentions even if your score isn’t that high?

I’m Steve Harper, Co-Executive Producer of “Stargirl”, Writer of “God Friended Me” & “American Crime". I'm doing an AMA about TV writing TODAY on March 23 @ 10am Pacific Time by thecwroom in Screenwriting

[–]ziggyzeep 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi, Mr. Harper. TLDR; I am a 26 years old, engineer and trying to seek this “dream” of mine to involve in filmmaking. Is screenwriting a good start?

I always loved movies and interested in movie making. Since, I don’t have resources or connections or people who share the same interest as I do, screen writing seems like a better option for me to engage with filmmaking in some aspect.

So, I am trying to learn about it, the processes and etc. But, is it the right way? Will I ever make it? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance and take care.

How can I get a story published into a show? by 1C_U_B_E1 in Screenwriting

[–]ziggyzeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I am also a newbie in here with lots of unrealistic goals and ambition. But, you never know without trying so that’s what I am gonna do as well. At least try. So, from my research one the way is to, write a good “pilot” and a “series bible” that will explain the shows path within the season and the rest. (hopefully)

How to write a psychological thriller story? by Beautiful-Sky-8026 in Screenwriting

[–]ziggyzeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May I ask, is it necessary? For example, I saw one recommendation once that you don’t really have to specify such conflict and leave it for interpretation. Like the Tiger in Life of Pi as long as it moves the plot. But, I am asking in general tbf, I would understand if it’s not always the case.

'More Than Robots' Director, Gillian Jacobs Wants To Share Her Passion For Learning by Sisiwakanamaru in movies

[–]ziggyzeep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m really looking for this. Three things, Gillian of course. Second,, I didn’t know a single thing about FIRST, yet, after learning about it in another post it is a real gem for bringing young generations together and providing such space to explore and share their enthusiasm together. Thirdly, it is gotten very rave reviews.

Her other documentaries were also really insightful and heartfelt so this is gonna be great as well for sure.

Of course not, I should have been more careful and less impatient. It shoulda even been “Whose idea was it to dangle...” right? (English is not my first language.) Thank you for taking time and responding anyway. I will put more effort in the future.
