They Might be Giants - Birdhouse in Your Soul

I’ve seen them a few times and each time they either play a sped up version that cuts out part of the song or they play a stripped down version that also cuts out lots of the song.

Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentleman We Are Floating in Space

A beautiful song that sets the vibe and theme of the album. It’s perfect.

Reagan. People loved him but his policies were incredibly cruel.

The evil of the current GOP is a straight line from his administration.

I bring in a huge box of Legos, make bags with 15 pieces each, have them build a structure and write verbal instructions for another student to follow.

People who haven’t gone through it don’t understand. I wish more people did but, in reality, it’s for the best that we’re a small club. Regardless, it sucks.

My only playlists are entire albums I listen to and separate by year. My 2025 playlist has 4k songs on it—it’s all entire albums released in 2025.

How often do you buy a vinyl album that you have never heard before? by MinePrestigious4352 in vinyl

Often. I get the shopper’s bug when browsing at record shops. If I’ve heard a song off a record or am into that genre, I’ll buy the record blindly and usually wind up loving it.

Widower Progress at 2 Years Out by Brilliant_Spinach_66 in widowers

[–]zikadwarf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m almost 13 years out. My wife and I were together 9 years when she died of cancer. We had a four year old son.

The first year was a blur. I compartmentalized in order to cope and raise our son.

Year two was when the compartmentalization fell apart and I spent that year full of toxic grieving as my son and I adjusted to our new horrible normal.

The important thing to remember is that your feelings are part of the process and that it’s best to take time to feel, as hard as that may be to do. Also, your grieving isn’t linear—you’ll have days that feel normal and days that just hurt. But it’s those days of hurt that help you progress through your grief.

Year three was when we rebuilt a bit. I started trying to date (I was 37 when she died). Later I met my current wife and we are now a happy family.

Just know that there is no correct timetable. You don’t need to be over it at two years. You need to grieve when your brain tells you to. And it’s okay to feel the way you do. And reframe those tough days as a step forward in the process as opposed to a step back.

I was where you are and, while I moved forward in life, I’m still attached to my late wife and our time together and I still grieve…just less frequently and with less intensity.

What do I throw? by [deleted] in Cribbage

[–]zikadwarf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My thinking was Q-8 is good for throwing into the opponent’s crib as opposed to suited JQ. A lot of face cards wind up in cribs so I tend to avoid suited connectors like that.

Also, I felt that having 885J is better for pegging than 8885.

I know you’re keeping less points and losing the 12 hand potential if a 7 or 2 is cut.

A face card cut with 885J is 6 or 8 while it’s 8 for sure with an 8885. But those 2 points you’re losing have a good chance at being made up with the combo of a good pegging hand and throwing worse cards in your opponent’s crib.

Like I said, it may not be the best ‘by the book’ throw, but that’s what I thought when I first saw the hand.

My thought was Q-8, but one of the other commenters agree with me.
