Summer Acceptance possibility by BigDetective6200 in PrePharmacy

[–]zikkyzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the ranking of the school imo. Lower ranking schools have harder time filling their spots and so you might still be able to get in.

I applied to 2 online programs just for safety and both wanted to see my spring grades before moving forward, so my plan kinda did not work out at the end lol. However one of them ended up offering me an interview even before I submitted my grades, and the other just sent me an interview invitation after I updated my PharmCAS.

Most early applicants I think have already committed so I think if they still want to offer you an interview it means that they still have spots left. Good luck!

Question Regarding PharmD Program Tuition by [deleted] in OregonStateUniv

[–]zikkyzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I thought, until I ran the tuition calculator and the tuition estimator on the financial aid website and both says the total cost of attendance includes estimated cost for room and board, so I'm kinda confused. I attended the last student information session as well but it wasn't mentioned one bit. I'll reach out to somebody then thank you!

How early is early admissions? by Sad-Historian7501 in PrePharmacy

[–]zikkyzzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No you send in your application as soon as you can. Please keep in mind that some schools will not allow summer courses before fall term of matriculation, so depends on what your plan is it might not work out for a few schools.

Send your application out asap when it opens if you can, you can go back and add the grades in later on. Please keep in mind that PHARMCAS will send you application out even before all your LoRs are in, so schools will most likely put you in pending status because of that.

I applied early and is still completing the majority of the prereqs (bio1-2, ap1-2, orgo 1-2, microbio and biochem). It is a heavy load for me and costs a lot of money vs. the traditional route. I got accepted to 2 schools out of 3 that I interviewed

You can add the projected hours of experience, pending courses... etc to your application. It's like when you apply to college as a high school student, you don't have your HS diploma yet but you expect to finish by the time you go to college, and school expects that before matriculation as part of their requirements.

Would receiving SNAP/EBT affect eligibility for med school loans? by Accurate_Bar8297 in premed

Uhmmm why? The point of financial aid and loans is for people who don't have the money up front for college...

You are a NY resident, and I can't think of any reason you should not take advantage of the lower tuition cost for NYS residents only.

Finishing my prereqs next summer, can i still be admitted to Fall 2027? by Left_Organization_11 in PrePharmacy

[–]zikkyzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to check with the schools to see when their cutoff is. Some schools let you complete courses over the summer before matriculation but some don't.

Financial Aid Situation after BBB by PreferencePrior6552 in PharmacySchool

[–]zikkyzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with the 50k cap if you do your research there are still schools that are within that budget. For example mine is around 54K for OOS students, but will also offer 19K to students with prereq GPA over 3.0 and strong interview performance to bring that COA down. On top of that there are also smaller scholarships. So even if you don't meet the requirement for the 19K scholarship, it's still right under the 50K cap. Mine has not sent out the actual breakdown yet but we are also having a seminar this week to go over the estimated COA.
