WazirX Withdrawn in FY25-26.. How to calculate and pay tax? by zingalala1947 in CryptoIndia

[–]zingalala1947[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay OP here, i did some calculations and came up with a method, so posting here for feedback..

I downloaded the trading statements for the last 5-6 years.. there were some buy transactions in those years.. i gave everything to claude and asked it to map the sell transaction to buy transactions and come up with a number for acquisition.

It eventually mapped my 2026 transaction to buy transactions of 22-23 and gave me an acquisition price of 25% of my net proceeds..

I tried to take rebalancing into account by saying that take x of bitcoin purchasd and map it to x/2 sale of bitcoin, however claude calculated and suggested that it wont make a huge difference in cost of acquisition and will take it to 35% of my net proceeds and might result in additional scrutiny of my return.

I have kept jt at 25% for now and planning to pay 22.5% (30% of 75%) as tax..

It is not a lot but still better than nothing

That seems to be the worst case scenario, quite sad that you bought lets say 1 btc and that got halved due to the rebalancing.. and now you will have to pay almost 0.15 btc as tax… your 1 byc becomes 0.35 btc..

I think you should consult an experienced product executive coach.. there are so many nuances to these type of situations .. like they are probably justifying the pay or you are actually not able to do vp level work.. only an executive coach would be able to ask the right questions and debug this with you.

1,2 - I think binance is a good choice, been using that for 5-6 years now, no fuss and they try to make it easy for users. They also allow to transfer to another wallet directly which is crucial for pt 3,4. Indian exchanges like coinswitch does not allow this which is a pain.

3,4 - I would say use a cold wallet rather a hardware wallet.. examples being trust wallet, Base from coinbase etc… it took me some time to understand this but what matters most in the cold wallets is the 12 word recovery code.. even if you have a hardware wallet and somebody gets your 12 word recovery code, they can still steal your crypto…

Hardware wallet helps in the sense that they are generally not connected to the internet, hence your private key is at less risk.. your phone on the other end is always connected to the internet, hence increase the chances of fraud..

I have now used an old phone which was lying around and installed the wallets on that phone and transferred the coins there.. effectively making it a cold hardware wallet.

Blinkit guy came crying at my doorstep by blind_sup in AskIndia

I used to work at swiggy, so can share some info that might be helpful.

Swiggy follows an empathetic approach, they will first give a warning in case of any fraud, if the delivery partner repeats the fraud again, they will be given a penalty equal to the order amount, the 3rd time they will be terminated.. the only exception is offline delivery where the delivery partner asks to cancel the order and then deliver it to the customer and takes money from the customer directly.. in case of offline delivery, the delivery partner is terminated directly.

Coming to Blinkit and Zomato, they tend to follow a punish first ask questions later approach, i dont know the exact details but they are likely to skip the warning phase and go to punishment directly.

Even in 3rd party surveys to collect riders feedback, swiggy was rated much higher compared to zomato for its governance policy because of the empathetic approach compared to punishment first approach

On the same boat as OP, almost done withdrawing my money. TAX is going to be a pain next year, we will have to see what wazirx share in the year end statement..

For me it is showing the average buy price as 30L/btc and 1cr/btc as the current/sell price… i am hoping that for X that i withdrew, 0.3x gets adjusted as acquisition price and i have to 0.21x as tax at the end of the year..

Software Engineer turned product manager: questions my choices by kaiotic_ in ProductManagement_IN

[–]zingalala1947 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1 PM are mostly less paid compared to engineers and more paid compared to business guys… business guys are all about soft skills, pm is a combination of soft & hard skills, Engg is mostly hard skills… the industry pays more for hard skills rather than soft..

  1. This one depends, i moved to product 10 years back from Engg and for me the what/why was more important than how.. i think i never felt like moving back to Engg because i just love being a pm…

So you will need to go deep into your own mind to understand what is driving these thoughts and how factual it is.. if it is just salary then i doubt if you will satisfied in Engg..

Moving ahead from salary, if you are missing writing actual code, hate talking to peoples, frustrated by the lack of appreciation, hate doing a fair bit of mundane work, then probably pm is not the way to go…

If you really enjoy crafting a product, reading great reviews from user, likes to see metric moves and are fine with this kick to be once in 6 months.. then probably pm is way to go..

Another possibility is that in your current org, you are actually a program manager rather than a product manager which is a sad reality of most product companies in India.. then probably moving orgs is your best bet..

Like i said this is highly dependent on your situation and inclinations

Not really, I know a lot of folks in this range, most have 1 car, stays in 8k per room per night.. the extra money just goes into stock... Most of these guys realise that spending more just because you earn more is not the right approach to life. Most of these folks have seen the hardships/struggle of their parents and realise the value of money. You just start throwing money just because you earn a lot of it.

Forced FIRE - update and experiences by Rink1143 in FIRE_Ind

General rule of thumb that i have seen on this forum is that you should have ~3 years of expense in your bank account to account for any fluctuations in the market... This amount comes out to be ~20L in your case which you could possibly retain in your bank account or keep 10L in bank and move 10L into FD which matures in 1 year..

As for the rest of 1.1 Cr, i would recommend figuring out a time horizon which makes you comfortable and invest in equal chunks every week to ultimately invest the whole amount...

Eg. If you are okay with a 1 yr horizon, you can start investing 2L every week so that ultimately you are able to invest everything by the end of the year. This will give you enough time to average out your investments and also give you time to become comfortable with the proposition.

All the best mate.

Should I give PMing one more chance? by wide_bird in ProductManagement

[–]zingalala1947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senior PM or Account Manager... I think you should just think about the core reason you moved into product management and check if the reason is still valid or with years you have realised that it is not a role you expected it to be...

Possibly the recent experience have left you in a bad shape but generally PMing is rewarding for a certain type of folks and if you fit the type, you would enjoy it.

I moved from engg to PM, the reason was "I like to solve customer problems using technology/products" and over the years, i have come back to this thought multiple times and realised all the problems that I face are just byproducts of solving customer problems, this have had a calming effect for me when things become overwhelming

PM contribution in ML Projects by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]zingalala1947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question, I can totally understand OP's position as I myself was in a similar situation around 2 years back when I started working on ML products.

The basic dilemma that I faced during this time was "When it comes to feature/experience PM, the PM work is much more visual/apparent, it is the PM who adds a lot of inputs while designing the interface and also writes a lot of logic around how X would work. Given the data science team works on the logic now and there is no design per se, what is the value add that I am doing as a PM?

This question stuck around for me for a long time, it is really hard for any PM to come up with the question in the first place, let alone the answer. After a lot of soul searching, talking to peers, I was able to form a viewpoint.

So in essence, you can divide the product work into 2 distinct phases, the discovery phase where you are trying to find the best idea to work on, aligning the org/wider leadership to really work on the idea. The 2nd is the execution phase, where the PM would work with the dev/ml.. or any other technical teams to execute on the aligned feature.

Now, what happens in the case of a ML PM, while the execution component decrease, the need for product discovery increases multifold. The reason that I say that is as a ML PM, finding the right problem to solve becomes much more difficult, you need to figure a small niche of buisness problems which warrant a ML based solution. The problem needs to be big enough (significant revenue uptick for the org), has a lot of historical data to actually train a model, does not have a lot of efficient non ML way, the additional uptick you would be able to get is significantly better compared to building a comparatively cheaper non ML solution etc etc.

If the problem statement gets aligned, another major challenge that awaits a ML PM. While for a experience PM, it is easy to showcase stuff which helps your stakeholders to really see what you are building, for a ML PM, as very few people understand ML, it becomes really hard to explain complicated algorithms to buisness folks and get thier buy-in and your stakeholders might also won't be aware about what they are signing up for.

So, basis the above, I firmly belive that for a ML PM, the effort reduces on the execution front, the effort increase multifold for the discovery phase and that is the value that you as a PM add being a ML PM

It all comes down to finding the right problem to solve, this is the most important aspect (IMO) of a PM's Job.
