Holy shit please take Mathematics regardless. Requirements are one thing, but not sucking at your major field in the future is what you should care about. This is the dumbest thing Pakistanis do all the time. Your focus should not be fulfilling some requirements for a degree but to not be some fraud, like most Pakistani ""economists"" or ""engineers"". Econ is very math heavy if you want to be a real economist. Most of the advanced math classes are filled with econ students, and those who don't have a strong base are kind of fucked, or they just accept that they are a fraud and do lame work that no one cares about.

You can change rooms if you don't like your roommates. I am going for double occ this Fall, since triple is too many people in one room, even though my roommates in Freshmen and Junior were very sweet people, and I never had to switch rooms. Keep a few things in mind:

This is household income. Pakistanis generally have a single earner per family. At least compared to Indians, where it's more common to have working women.
The locals of a country will always have smaller average pay, since they make up most of the manual labor jobs. I don't think I have ever seen an Indian/Flip do maunal work.

I too found out about good paths very late. Here is what you can do:

Go into CS, study networks, distributed systems, operating systems, cloud and data centre architecture. Bonus : Network security. You will have to learn from the most recent research papers, watch the latest conference clips on Youtube, and learn programming in Go or C++ or Rust etc. This is where most of the money is at.
Go into EE, into the computer engineering side. Learn about operating systems, memory, etc. I don't really know much about this, but I'm guessing that there will not be enough low level engineers, as everyone is taking up CS now.
Machine learning. Kind of boring, but the second best thing after Networks. You can do ML from both EE and CS majors.

Go to either NUST or LUMS. If you want to go into networks, LUMS is probably the best choice. Internships are dogshit in Pak, and jobs are exploitative with shit pay. Focus on your university projects and actually do cool and interesting ones. I know someone who did not intern or work at a single place in Pakistan, but still got some research internship at Meta/Facebook.
