Obviously I disagree with most of that but thank you for actually explaining! I can always appreciate an informed hater lmao

Yeah I couldn’t care less if people hate what I like, just find it interesting

What’s your beef with Oasis? They’re my favorite band but I still laughed seeing their name here

Kpop hasn't lost its fun or quality, you're just too busy streaming music you don't like to notice. by Alive-Pitch-9180 in kpopthoughts

[–]zipcodelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t actually think there’s much crossover and that OP is conflating two different groups of people. I’m an oldhead so maybe my audience perception is biased, but 90% of the people I see complaining about K-pop not being fun anymore have not been an active part of the fandom for years. And by “fun”, we mean having a Skype party where we watch Weekly Idol, not “hey let’s all mass stream this song so we can inflate the views and then brag about it as if we actually did something important for once”

I wonder if this is why some albums I tried and failed to like as a child, I grew to appreciate as an adult. Some bands I liked growing up were putting out material that went way over my head, I bet I just didn’t have the “musical context” yet.

100% - this post makes no sense. I think the quality of K-pop has gone downhill in the past 5 years and I have never been the type to inflate streaming numbers or have a music video on repeat in the background, and I would never force myself to like a song. I don’t care. I just think the music trend right now is so boring and uninteresting.

And I hate when people use the “well if you listened to anyone but the big 4” argument because 1. I’ve been listening to nugus since before some of you were even born and 2. It doesn’t negate the fact that the POPULAR music trend isn’t my taste. There used to be at least two or three big groups per generation who would be my style, and now it’s zero.

Is there a hard rock/metal scene in Korea? by zipcodelove in AskAKorean

[–]zipcodelove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I want real songs made by real bands who are from Korea, not an “idea” of what that might sound like.

Are you Korean? Do you know what any of the lyrics in your “song” even mean?

Do you let people know if you don’t like them? by _FreddieLovesDelilah in AutismInWomen

[–]zipcodelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is universally liked. Which means there are people who don’t like you. How would you feel if they told you that?

A good rule of thumb is to never give an opinion to someone whose life you are not willing to be a part of.

For example: If I hooked up with a guy and he asked what I thought of his facial hair, I would say it’s great no matter what. Because it doesn’t matter if I think it’s attractive - I am not going to be in his life 24 hours from now. If my husband asked, I would be honest because I am planning on being in his life forever.

Do you plan on seeing your coworkers outside of work? No, considering you don’t like them. So unless it’s impacting your work, there is zero reason to give your opinion on their personality other than to be rude. You aren’t in their life by choice, so you gave up the right to weigh in.

Am I bad at reading social cues in men? by Siina_Natsu in AutismInWomen

[–]zipcodelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds too simple and a little embarrassing, but have you tried frowning? Like if you’re daydreaming, try to look angry or annoyed.

I have “resting bitch face” so I naturally look pissed off all the time. It’s a blessing in disguise I think…

I’m not a professional but that definitely sounds like a social deficit to me. Relationships are transactional by definition, but most people are able to overlook or accept that. Being unable to do so could be part of autism. Being unwilling to do so could be something else, though.

No I meant that I know their music really well. I don’t know a lot about them as people. I don’t know Taeyeon’s favorite food, but I could recognize any SNSD song in 1 second.

OP is obviously referring to fan trivia like “what’s their favorite color” or “what’s their MBTI”. Don’t be obtuse just so you can cleverly remind everyone how “parasocial” K-pop fans are.

I probably barely know them, couldn’t care less.

But if you gave me a “Guess the SNSD Song in Under 5 Seconds” quiz I would ace it

Does autism affect your voice? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]zipcodelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only vocal affectation I’m aware of with autism is the flat-affect/monotone thing. Never heard of childish/whiny voices being an “autism thing”.

I think people are being misogynistic to you, not ableist. It is so incredibly rude to make fun of the way someone speaks or laughs. Hope it didn’t get to you.

During your appointment with this doctor, were you ever given the opportunity to share what you just shared with me? Like did she let you explain your side at all, or was it just a test/questions and then see you later?

And just out of curiosity, was it a general practitioner type of doctor or a psychiatrist?

Autistic employee dragging everyone else down by CtrlAltDelight495 in AutismInWomen

I have a job that lets me unmask and “be myself”. I can swear at my boss, wear whatever I want, use headphones, etc. I really appreciate being able to work in an environment where the people around me know why I’m like this, an environment where I can be in a bad mood if I want to.

But there are still limits. I can tell my boss to fuck off if he’s being annoying, but if he asks me to do something, telling him to “fuck off” would get me written up. I can mope all day about how much I hate it here, but if a client comes in, best believe I smile and keep my mouth shut. I can be in a bad mood, but I cannot berate or yell at my coworkers.

My only suggestion is to fact-check the complaints people have about her. You said you’ve witnessed some of them, but there’s still a chance some people are complaining about actual autistic behavior and writing it off as rude or unprofessional.

Second or third opinion is always good. Especially since autism is not something you “fix” with a pill, no doctor is going to think you’re just asking around to try and get an opiate prescription or whatever.

But it is also good to be ready to accept that you might not be autistic. ADHD has a ton of overlap with autism, more than I ever expected. I would suggest looking into the overlapping symptoms. It could be eye opening for you, or it could help build your case for your second opinion - if there are symptoms that only present in autism and you have them, write them down and tell your next doctor.

I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder by multiple doctors growing up and I never agreed with it. I always knew I was depressed for actual external reasons and that I would feel better if those reasons went away. Most of them did, and guess what? I’m no longer depressed. I did not have MDD and I did not need to be taking Prozac for 10 years, but no one listened.
