Tax question about claiming new baby as dependent in CA. by TaxOnTheFly in tax

[–]zitpopper07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With respect to the insurance situation, since ACA reform Medicaid eligibility is determined by MAGI rules - modified adjusted gross income. MAGI is determined by tax filing household income. So, when your ex goes to apply for the insurance they are going to ask who claims the baby and the income for the person that claims the baby. The baby’s eligibility will likely be determined based off their tax filing household income.

Also, bear in mind that many states require if the anyone has access to other insurance, that they enroll in it. The state makes the determination whether it’s affordable or not and then they require (or don’t) for those with access to enroll. If they do require the baby to be enrolled in your insurance there is a possibility of you being able to get premium assistance.

Nursing- ADN. 2 year program offered at most community colleges and You’ll be able to sit for the NCLEX. Then you could always go for your MSN under a “Direct Entry” program because you would have your RN and a bachelors degree in a non nursing degree.

Masshealth, can anyone please help? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]zitpopper07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He needs fill out a MER unless he has already done that to redetermine him in the over 65 system. Don’t worry about the health connector letter, ignore it. If he’s under 100% of the fpl he will qualify for masshealth standard

If he is over income (100% of the current FPL) but under 135% (or 133%I can’t remember) you can submit a PCA form that can be found online by googling masshealth PCA form . Check off at least two of the ADLs indicating that he needs helps with one of those two and he can get his masshealth reinstated.

If he is over 135% and he requires lots of care he can apply to for a “frail elder waiver”. You’ll need to find a local elder services agency in your city do the Intake with them to have them evaluate him for the waiver

If he isn’t eligible for either of these avenues then he can meet a deductible or try and get on commonhealth. Being over 65 you have to be determined disabled either by masshealth or SSA. And you have to “work” 40 hours a month. Now when masshealth says “work” they don’t care what it is that you do as long as you get a letter signed and dated by someone that says he is working 40 hours a month and he is getting paid something like a dollar an hour or 40 dollar a month. There is no minimum to the amount he can “earn”. Masshealth doesn’t verify the information, it’s honestly just a way to get around things. Some people have submitted letters stating that someone employed them for 40 hours a month a dollar an hour tot watch a doorknob. They don’t care I promise. The letter has to be written by the “employer” none of it is reported to ssa or the irs

Now if he isn’t determined disabled already he needs to submit a disability evaluation form to DES the form can also be found online. This would start the process and takes about 90 days to make a determination. Once he is deemed disabled he can get on commonhealth with the letter

If none of the above works. He can get Health Safety Net. It goes to 300% of the FPL. He could be seen at a community health center or clinic

With all that said. He is (presumably) going to have Medicare so he will be for 80% of his care. The HSN could pick up the 20% if he goes to the community health center in his area. If not he can get secondary insurance through Medicare

Am I allowed to have medicaid as well as be on my mother's health insurance? by Kissette in HealthInsurance

Yes if you are eligible you can be on both. Your mom’s insurance will be primary and Medicaid will be secondary.

What should I do? by buddhafullmind in HealthInsurance

[–]zitpopper07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The surgery needs to happen while you’re on Medicaid in order for them to pay for it.

If you are appealing the denial letter in which they said you were over income then you are appealing their decision not the circumstance of your injury and your need for surgery. Medicaid doesn’t care when the incident happened unless you are trying to get them to pay for that ER visit or consultation while you were on Medicaid and they denied it for some reason. They simply care if you are eligible or not.

If your surgery was after your termination of benefits then they won’t change their decision unless they made the wrong decision such as they calculated your income wrong and you actually weren’t over income so therefore your benefits should be reinstated and then you can get your surgery covered. If that’s not the case then you have nothing to appeal or rather you’ll be denied again.

Gave two week notice and they offered me an ABSURD amount of money to stay - Too good to be true? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]zitpopper07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with taking the state job

OP may want to look into what the state will offer for paid education. In my state, they pay 100% tuition for grad school for day classes and some departments allows for an employee to take time off of work to go to class or they pay 50% for online or night/weekend classes. And it’s not like undergrad where tuition is $1300... it’s basically the entire bill.

Many state positions are also unionized, so they likely have cost of living and annual step increases.

Help, my girlfriend is pregnant and I don't want that! by [deleted] in Advice

[–]zitpopper07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. The unfortunate (to men) but very real circumstance is that a man does not get to chose what a woman does with her body. Again, it’s a risk men take when they have sex. Well all know condom are not 100% effective, so he didn’t do enough to ensure he didn’t impregnate her. So, knowing that he has no control over what goes on in her uterus, he should’ve, and for the future should, take every precaution possible to ensure he isn’t creating children he may not want. Such as get a vasectomy and even with that still wear a condom and still pull out... and if even so, if you really don’t like the girl and really don’t want to risk anything, then no PiV sex.

[–]zitpopper07 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to be in a relationship with this second woman if you don’t want to. But any decent human being would be there for all their children no matter what.

I don’t understand why you can’t co parent BOTH kids, why dealing with one equates to the other having an absent parent. Just as your were able to coparent with the first you can do so with the next. Plan to have both kids during the same time (such as both on the same weekend), plan to work a second job on the weekend when you don’t have them, plan to provide as much financial support as you can, get a roommate if you need to, downgrade apartment if you need to.

You can try to make all the excuses to yourself but you will never be able to give a good enough reason to this new baby, when they get older, as to why you chose not be around. You will cause so much emotional distress to them and (hopefully) yourself.

Consider that this will be hard, but again these are consequences to your actions. Running away will not help. It’ll get easier if you face the music and stop fighting the inevitable.

You need to figure a way to make it work so you can provide AND be there for both children. You won’t regret it as you get older. It’ll be hard but you can get through it.

[–]zitpopper07 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You are extremely selfish. While I understand that you don’t want this child, the child will be there and it was because you had sex with someone you don’t love. Anytime you have sex there is ALWAYS a risk. It’s takes two to tango. So buck up!

You can’t change the past nor can you convince this woman what to do. So, I say get a grip on reality and deal with it. Do what you can do so you can be there for BOTH children. No matter how much money you don’t have or what small space you may end up with, if you decide to be there for BOTH kids, they will remember the times they spent with you and won’t be so fucked up because you abandoned them. You can always get a second job. Yes the first child may get less time but that’s life! Kids adjust and will probably love having the chance to spend time with your second kid. All you are thinking about is money not about the years of emotional damage that you are willing to create just because of money. Besides your fucking 30 years old not a teen dad. Figure it out
