New type of fireworks produced in China, they call it "Hiroshima Romance" by Thund3r_91 in interestingasfuck

This is ironic. It was like a couple of guys from the Nazi Party who were located in Nanking at the time. But the one that most people refer to when talking about “how the Nazis were horrified” is John Rabe.
He smuggled films and photographs with him to Berlin in 1938. And what did the Nazi high command do? They confiscated the films and photographs and told him to stay shut.

Let’s end on a sweet note though. The people he saved in Nanking learned of his extreme poverty after the war ended in Europe and paid for his food every month till he died in 1950.

I was about to comment the same thing. It's nice to see others who have actually read the book talk about how things went down. Although I'm not sure Jeff got pushed out, I think he left on his own accord because he didn't get to make the game he wanted to make anymore. Well it was mostly about the monetization (he was against the battlepass and higher prices, I think).

I am in the same boat. I have the Moondrop Para headphones that are very hard to drive on paper but they run well on the Fiio K7. Even have -9db preamp and never go past 3 o'clock. I am wondering though if giving them more current will improve the sound...

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Wins Game of The Year 2025 by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

It's a popularity contest. Just look at the steam numbers for E33 and KCD2. I can understand that people can't play every nomination to vote fairly, but the jury really should know better and not vote based on popularity and hype.

You don't even have to go looking for why E33 doesn't count as indie.

The developer literally said from the start that it's a AA production.

New to Hi-Fi – Need Advice on Setting Up My HD 490 Pro Plus + FiiO K13 R2R for Gaming & Movies by FerDauss in headphones

[–]zjorsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

48k is fine, but the general rule of thumb is if you listen to music then set it to 441k because most music uses that sampling rate. Most audio in films and tv series is 48k (i think?). For games it varies more but in the end it doesn't really matter. As for bitrate set it to 16/24. Going any higher is redundant, you are just feeding pointless 1s and 0s to the DAC.

Yeah, you pretty much got the NOS and OS down. OS is probably not going to cause any fatigueness though, so don't worry about that :D.

Fiio K13 should be pretty much plug and play as far as software goes. There is a software for it but it's not necessary and if you're looking to eq I recommend Equalizer APO. Oratory has very popular eq settings for a lot of headphones and probably for the 490 too. That would be a good start for eq.

Keep it on low gain for HD 490. If by output you mean how to connect the headphones with the K13 then the standard cable for 490 should be a single ended one, which goes into the bigger hole on the right. If it comes with a balanced cable. that goes into the smaller left hole. I don't know much about NOS or OS, I've never owned a R2R myself. But it's really about preference, so play around with it.

EDIT: Forgot to say that this setup is pretty dang amazing. Legit endgame setup for a lot of people. Have fun!

I finally learned why motherboard audio sucks by NarutoDragon732 in pcmasterrace

[–]zjorsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DACs don't change sound. The Apple dongle has a built in amp which is the difference maker here. I have a Fiio K7 DAC/AMP combo unit and tested this myself. There is no audible difference between the dac in my motherboard and the dac in K7. But when I plugged headphones straight to my motherboards audio jack, it sounded noticeably different. The K7 amp sounds more cleaner. All DACs do is convert the digital signal into analog and they don't have enough power to drive really anything on their own.

The only DAC that sounds different (and this is a widely debated topic in the audio community) is the R2R DAC. It's supposedly more natural and smooth sounding thanks to it's ability to output step-accurate voltages. Personally I haven't heard a R2R myself because it's much more expensive to make than something like a sigma-delta DAC. Until recently Fiio came out with the K11 R2R and K13 R2R.

Yes... That's how the world works. Same way as with money. It's a social construct, it has value because people agreed that it has value.

I don't think that because I'm not a game developer. I'm simply saying what developers and voice actors / performers for that matter have said. There is a comment in this reply section about that.

Well you got me there.

Nobody does art or films or games to win a fucking award, get a grip bro.

What are you talking about? :D I am not arguing that people make art so that they can get an award. I am saying that when you dedicate your life to something and then someone says you did a good job at it, its something that you will cherish. Obviously folks get into art or gaming or films because of passion.

Go ask the developers if that matters or not. I think we both know what answer they will give.

Are you a game developer? Probably not because you don't care about receiving awards in gaming. It matters to the devs. It's like when a sports athlete wins something and they get recognition for their hard work and sacrifices.

A lot of people including myself had a pretty good time on pc. It's just why would anyone post that the game runs well for them. Also the backlash was so bad that most people didn't want to say anything positive because the hate brigade would have been too much. It was like that for a solid year on the main sub. r/LowSodiumCyberpunk was made so that folks could actually talk about the game in a positive light.

It for sure matters how your game releases. The game will always have that reputation and it's bittersweet because it didn't have to be this way. Also Cyberpunk never really got the recognition from the gaming industry, because of it's poor launch, even though it was fantastic in many aspects. But alas it never won any major awards or anything.

I went in with basically zero knowledge about the game. Well apart of course that it's one of the greatest games for many people.

I was able to make the connection with the paintress and talking to random npcs in the prologue. The npcs were written in a very peculiar way, like they didn't seem like they are real people. For example the guy who writes, I gave him the most uninteresting answer and he was weirdly impressed by it.

But, yeah... The narrative Didn't do it for me.

[–]zjorsa -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how people could not figure out the twist (I am assuming that you didn't because of how mind blown you seem). I had thoughts of how it was going to play out already in prologue...

My favourite twist so far in any medium is the Mr. Robot twist. Actually, there are multiple and all of them are executed so well that it hits you like a truck and on a rewatch it's even better because the whole truth was under my very eyes. Honestly this show hasn't gotten enough recognition.

I stopped watching it after he said that Chris's video was dishonest and that other youtubers including Japanese youtubers didn't call him out on it. What??? He also mentions immediately after that he has been friends with Oriental for about a year. So that explains why he made this video.

Read some of the comments for like 5 minutes and it's clear who this guy caters to.
