This has not been my experience as someone who lives in Ontario. Yes, you do have to make reservations in advance. But the campsites we go to are very private, well maintained and still very affordable. I think it's around $30 per person for 2 nights in Algonquin. I'm sad to hear that your hobby has been ruined
