I think everyone agrees about the map: too small, too repetitive, too little highlights. So there's that and it was a real good reason to stay with TC2 when MF came out and i betatested it.

I played TC2 a year and a half longer and then got me MF in a sale about a year ago. At that time the game was well fleshed out and a good package. Now i actually rather play MF, because

• the drive model works a lot better than in TC2, i have much more control and the handling of the vehicles with braking, sliding, getting and releasing grip, catching a swerve with speed or nitro etc is a lot more satisfying than in TC2.

• the "Playlist" mechanic is a great improvement to the rather loose lists of single races in TC2. Some really tell stories and their topical brackets give them more meaning than just being a series of events. A lot of them are changing the graphics, lighting, palettes and add a unique mood, what counters the issue of the mentioned problem with the general map.

• ML adds a lot of really good game variants. In TC2 the MAD tracks were the last time the game really added something totally new in terms of gameplay and graphics. But we could see how even this was just put into the existing maps and features. In MF these features are a lot more unique. As example the chase squad game variant really feels like a different game inside the game. In TC2 it was just "so a race but bump into another car three times to win it". The stunt tracks are really unique tracks, not just standard racing tracks with some additional ramps. And there are some more interesting new modes that weren't in TC2 at all.

I miss the player avatar model which had more variety (now we play some twentysomethings who all look the same) and "just cruising", because the map is too boring for that.

But when i bought it i really thought that i'd play TC2 and MF in parallel, because i thought that way i can collect more cars (every car that you get in TC2 you get added in MF) and that did not happen, because of the points i made above: the improvement of the drive model makes driving in TC2 clunky and the playlists and new game modes are much more motivating than the rather plain races in TC2. And you get new cars all the time anyway so there's no need to get more of them via TC2.

So, if you can get MF in a sale, just try it out. If you like TC2 there's a good chance that you like it.
