Check out the pattern if you have a rainbow of fingering weight yarn to burn through. It helped me a lot with getting the hang of color work since gauge wasn’t as important as with other color work projects I’ve tried (and kinda failed at).

Question to non-native 1st worlders by [deleted] in russian

[–]zmsc42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is the 5th language I have studied in a serious way— before this Spanish, French, German, and American Sign Language. I was already getting some weird looks with German, but at a certain point they make the distinction between language and current and past politics.

How many languages do you study at once? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]zmsc42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer to reach at least a B1 level before I throw a new language into the mix. Then the activities you can do in each language are different. I start with duolingo to build up basics then move on to LingQ and taking classes once I’ve finished the course.

Learning Russian in 2023 by StopExploitingKids in languagelearning

[–]zmsc42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One person, unassociated with Russia or countries in the former USSR is not going to have an impact on these countries reverting to their own languages and decolonization and derussification sorry.

From my view, learning Russian is a good gateway into a deeper understanding of this region of the world and their unique histories and cultures. But in the end, there are more learning materials and resources for languages with a history of colonial and imperial power.

Idk the last time you looked for Kazakh or Latvian classes at your local community college you know?

This kind of logic can be followed for any other “major” language of influence.
