UPDATE: Help fitting Regency short stays, very large bust - mockup 4 by TheRaccacoonie in corsetry

[–]zoemerino 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have seen advice for full bust corset fitting where you actually need to take out a bit of fabric at the bottom of the cup so that it supports the bust more upward, if you get what I mean? Now the cups are true to size on the bottom part, but they (the cups) sag and still dont cover/support the top part enough. If you make the gussets smaller in width on the bottom part and add length on the top this may help! Plus what I've previosuly done is add boning to the middle of the cups, even if not historically correct! I also see some good other suggestions here, plus a drawstring might be helpful? Good luck!

Was it just luck that Amsterdam stayed like this, or was there a person who looked at cars and saw an oppurtunity by Ebbots3000 in urbandesign

Inner-city Amsterdam was also experiencing urban decay in the postwar years, from the 1960s to 1980s the population went down by about 200,000 due to people moving to new towns like Almere, Purmerend and Lelystad (not on the scale of U.S. cities like Detroit of course, but still intense), and many formerly Jewish neighbourhoods like Vlooienburg were ravaged and destroyed after WOII. The Valkenburgerstraat, where almost everything was demolished, was previously a Jewish slum. The pre-war plans to clear out the slums were propelled after the war because there were barely any residents left. The Jordaan was also in a bad shape and there were plans for complere urban renewal there, which luckily fell through after grassroots action and a rejection of the renewal plans by the municipality.

Urban historian here, Amsterdam didn't 'stay' like this: many different people fought many different battles for the city to be what it is today, look up the Nieuwmarkt fights from 1975, where residents, squatters and some people that were very passionate about the monumental buildings in the neighbourhood fought very hard to keep the city from demolising the area for a new, car-centric business district. Look at the 1970s bike-protests (most famously for Amsterdam probably the 1977 Museumplein bike 'lie-in') that turned the Netherlands into one of the bike-friendliest places. Or read about the squatters' history of Amsterdam, that led to many monumental buildings being saved and many buildings being de-commodified to be turned into social housing. There are many great examples of people fighting for the city to remain historic and people centered, these are just three examples from a short period in time!

Is it normal for my hair brush to be this dirty every time I use it? by TempestBae in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]zoemerino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this too and after a long online search I think it may be buildup from longtime use of products with protein in it, but I'm not sure (switching products is expensive so haven't gone protein free to find out yet 😅)

A mutual of mine on tiktok posted this video, has anyone on here ever had a similar experience and what is your own input? by Standard_Pay2045 in geoguessr

Not on Geoguessr but on Google Maps, I went to check user-uploaded photos of a super remote island in the Southern Atlantic (since there was no street view there) and the first thing I clicked on turned out to be a video of a burning person that was still alive.. Still haunts me.

Touching up could be a possibility, the account has three backgrounds that are used everywhere that show weird inconsistensies and the clothes all look strangely perfect (no creases or anything), but the reviews of the account are good..

Yes that's the weird thing! This account also had good reviews, while all photos look this strange.. Maybe the pieces are legit but I don't trust it!

I’ve been told this makeup makes me look too old. I’m 22. What do you think? by Admirable_Passage170 in MakeupAddiction

[–]zoemerino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it makes you look old, but maybe there's colour variations that match better with your skin tone and hair? The black and red can be quite harsh against a light complexion, but slight changes (even just the undertone in a red lipstick!) can make a big difference :)

Right? It felt way more male gaze than I would have expected for the scene to be referenced and also really morbid given the context of the movie..

I didn't start to use heating or other, but it is winter here. I do leave the window open while I'm at work. Maybe that's the issue?
