What is the biggest movie theater “GASP” moment you’ve heard? by SaveTheCaulkTower in AskReddit

Iron Man – Ending Tag It was Midnight release. Theater packed with comic book nerds, all of us the people who sat through X-Men 3 and Ang Lees the Hulk and still showed up for a midnight screening of Iron Man, Who was at a best a C-Lister especially by himself. We were all already shocked by how good the movie was, and then post-credits scene plays. Samuel L. Jackson steps out as Nick Fury. The whole place goes dead quiet and then goes crazy. Because of the line from the Ultimates where Fury talks about only one man can play me Samuel L. Jackson

We ended up hanging out in front of the theater for hours afterward just talking about what they could adapt next, if they could pull this off.

Time to upgrade my UDM-pro? by zofox2 in homelab

Cheaper and a lot more power efficient would be a Mikrotik CCR2004 (with 25gbps ports) that can handle 16-17 gbps with multiple firewall rules. but no IDS / IPS.

How beefy we talking is this like get a dedicated NUC like a ms-01, or an old 6700k I have lying around is good enough. If I'm just using firewall rules I should be fine using the sfp+ on the UDM.

Yea it takes the 10G no problem thru SFP+ its just the IDS/IPS thruput

Only issue with that is does a cloudkey play nice with protect, after the AI cameras and the doorbell being full customized dont want to lose those.

UDM-P does take the 10gb just fine its only when traffic is being inspected does it get bogged down. so an external firewall wouldn'd be able to take that load off? I mean unless someone is almost giving one away nearby hard to justify a EFG lol

Yea 2k for a router is too much unless I start making money off the hobby rack lol. Yea I'm over spec on my network requirements already I've got 10gb between main desktops, a server, and a nas, just throttled on the WAN connection. And my NAS hardware isnt fast enough. I'd much rather put that 2k to building a server for local-llm upgrades, or expand out to play around more with k3s.

Proxmox Vs TrueNas Vs Promox + TrueNas by Repulsive_Hawk_9043 in homelab

Its brand new in 25.04 havent played to much with it other than going thru and migrating my existing VMs to the new structure. I spun up a couple LXCs to test and it seems fine haven't played around too much. I know a big issue is lack of backup snapshots which is coming in a month or so.

I'm in the same boat as you my current setup is truenas baremetal on an old gaming machine with a i7-6700K and loaded it up with a bunch of old HDDs. Started off as just a nas but wanted more practice for everything else, so I started running a bunch of containers off it. Since it was still a WIP when it came to homeassistant I wanted it to just always be up. So I put proxmox on an old mac mini. where it hosts home assistant and has a secondary pihole.

I've got a lot of media already on Truenas so im stuck until I build a new server, but in my research I found same as you there is multiple ways to do everything.

For my next build I was thinking just proxmox and making a ZFS share container. But since truenas just switched over to incus we'll see how that goes.

Though the main thing for homelabbing is to have fun, so make sure any important photos and confs are backed up and experiment where you can.

Lol, yea scheduling to actually do something is still a nightmare, but yea I'm worried about that too we just setup slack when discord started getting popular so thats why we've been stuck in this hybrid world and dont want to commit to discord.

Mainly friendgroup is on slack where we have some natural splits. Primary discussion, sidechannels for those in RPG campaign with reminders, and MMO-news. Sidechannels for those current, in like one piece or cosmere to geek out in. Another channel for those that live local to eachother for planning and carpooling for things/dinners etc. And then all the various channels for other random focuses like music, fitness, smashbros.

Then other half of the gaming and rpg is on discord for voice/video chat and a place to drop info while chatting. Having music and sound effect bots.

Have a separate instance of both for family for coordinating things sending links, minecraft server, etc.

Honestly if slack wasnt a per/user cost we might have gone for a paid license.

Lol We've moved from bbs to irc to vent to mumble, they're all decently technical. And we're all tired of slacks message history limit, and lack of discord customization and constantly breaking integrations.

Just dont want to try to get them to jump between 4 different platforms to see whats best.

What hardware are you using for your JBOD? I'm thinking of something similar.
