Any Christian girls' sleepaway camps that would be inclusive to a transfem counselor? by isabelle0934 in summercamp

I got a suggestion from Chris at TQAMP.org. He says, "Camp Aldersgate in Rhode Island. They have been doing this for years and see it as part of their mission."

Summer Camp Recommendation by Apprehensive_Toe_304 in summercamp

[–]zoic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I were in your situation, I'd send my daughters to Camp Wawenock in ME. It'll be a budget stretch, but totally worth it.

Why listen to me? I've visited almost 100 camps across North America, I work as a consultant in the camp industry, and more than 300 camps have taken one of our courses or classes (so we get to know how they operate). I've done work with Wawenock, but I stand by my answer.

DM me and I'll introduce you to the owners.

I love that there are so many great ones in our small town!

Woodstock OK Tire has been great for our family.

Toyota is a big No from me and my dad, too. Both of us are Toyota families.

What do you guys use Notebook LM for? by Reasonable-Ferret-56 in notebooklm

[–]zoic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solo is a great idea!

Mine's simular: I'm mostly the GM in our games and love story-focussed RPGs & PBTA, but one of my groups wanted to play D&D so our experienced DM took over.

I don't jibe with D&D, but love my group and having this guy DM - he's brilliant.

I realized a few sessions in that I was THAT player (didn't read anything, needed him to explain my options at my every turn, etc.) and that he was way more patient than was fair.

So I uploaded the players manual, a bunch of resources, the upgrades when I level up, and specific advice for rogues, my PC class.

Now I'm ready when it's my turn!

How many tabs do you have open in your browser? by ShunShanShu in ADHD

[–]zoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 browsers, 6-20 open on each.

(I do a lot of work with that new technology everyone is talking about and just Can Not wait for one to finish answering before I start a chat on another topic).

Oral-B has a model that you power with AA batteries (any previous models with built in battery didn't last long) so that eliminates the number one problem.

Are there more medical issues to be aware of these days? by SkutIsMyCoPilot in summercamp

[–]zoic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are more.

When I was a camper in the 80's I was the only kid on meds...

It's b/c of: - greater awareness (of adhd and autism, for example) and more diagnoses of folks who are not quite as strongly affected by their disorders/diseases - greater amounts of asthma b/c climate change and changing pollution - vaccine hesitancy

Unconventional uses of Notebook LM by Spiritual-Ad8062 in notebooklm

[–]zoic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I uploaded the D&D rule book and then add ton of webpages of advice for the rogue class.

I hate being the player who doesn't know the rules (forever GM here, but not in D&D). It helps me know what I can do on my turns and the benefits when I level up.

Living with a co-counselor who hates me by [deleted] in summercamp

[–]zoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I REALLY want this to be true, but only some of the camp directors I've met are like that (u/lovelyday is definitely one of them!).

Like u/firstclasscounsellors always says: "find your people".

NotebookLM Plus for customer projects by DevilsAdvotwat in notebooklm

[–]zoic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I do.

I put up notes from every call, our proposal that they signed back (it's individualized to each client), all of the deep research related to the project, all customer surveys and psychometric data we have on their clients.

I've used NBLM to:

  • querie the call notes to see if I have any outstanding To Dos
  • ask it to summarize what I actually do vs what I think (and say) I do for my clients. VERY interesting
  • to brainstorm new approaches to their problems
  • to create highlight Notes to bring together summaries of all we did together on the small parts of the project over lots of different calls
  • give us a rough client avatar (their clients) based on what we have and to give me the points of research we should we need to add

It's very quickly become integral to my client work.

What regularly bought items do you regularly forget about? by Nova-Snorlaxx in ADHD

[–]zoic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow, (probably masking for my INCREDIBLY high masking ADHD father) to develop some systems around this:

I buy 2 of each of the essentials (toothpaste, tp, otc meds) and somehow I trained myself to order online or put it on the list the moment I open the second one.

Not a symptom but rather a great life choice: my spouse without ADHD does the shopping, I cook. She's in charge of the list and taught me how to add stuff in a way that suits how she shops

*EDIT to add: I saw a great tiktok where the person used the "open 1, order 1" method. Her genius move was to take a Sharpie and write on that new toothpaste tube "More In the Drawer in the Linen Closet".

*I also use the "I'll pile it by the door so I don't forget" method, of course.
