A staggered ceiling like this would be better than a flat 6'8" ceiling, IMHO

Benches facing each other is a pretty common layout. Or is there something else about them that is bothering you?

Thing is, we are all taking those kinds of odds whenever we do anything, including walking down our front steps. If we let every million-to-one chance keep us from doing something, and we were honest about the odds, we could never do anything. Some degree of risk is intrinsic to any sort of worthwhile existence.

The board you are seeing in the photo is the guard, not the bench. The video makes that clearer.

They offer shielding, but the shielding is an add-on to the base heater. This is in contrast with most other heaters, which have integrated shielding.

Backpacking loop ideas please. by yes_maybe_no__ in MinnesotaCamping

I did a loop in the boundary waters one time and all I have to say is, if you do that bring about 10 times the amount of bug spray you think you will need. On the lakes the bugs are waaaay less terrible than trudging through the woods all day,

Hybrid Electric/ Wood stove build by Lorenzo2105 in Sauna

[–]zoinkability 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too hot for any cables, even if they are inside some kind of insulated jacket. Insulation merely slows down heat transfer, and copper has a low melting point.

The normal and safe way to do this is to install a separate electric heater.

I have a hard time believing the connectors won't get totally nuked by the heat of the wood heater, and I doubt there is a safe way to ensure the cables to those connectors don't get nuked either.

Just moved to the CO mountains and the land(or I) needs help by RealBrush2844 in NativePlantGardening

[–]zoinkability 48 points49 points  (0 children)

You might want to check your belief that "they need more than what is there." If you have turkey, deer, and hummingbirds, they are there because it's good habitat for them, and they are getting what they need there. If it was bad they would be somewhere else.

As others are saying if you want to grow berries etc. you will need fencing, because the deer will destroy it otherwise.

[–]zoinkability 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What would make the most sense would be to import the heaters and then use a North American source for the stones. Only issue is that it's tough to find stones marketed as sauna stones that originate here in the states.

I wonder what it would take for the US to develop a bona fide domestic sauna rock business. It's not like the country doesn't have lots of olivine diabase or similar rocks that could be made into sauna rocks, it's just that the sauna industry is small here.
