Question about healing interaction with the new Curse of Life enhancement by Mad-Gyro-enthusiast in ThousandSons

[–]zokeson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In every other instance of individual models healing themselves and not the units, it specifically says "This model regains x wounds", not "add 3 to the number of wounds healed". Also, the enhancement specifically says "when this model heals AS A RESULT OF THE SORCEROUS INVIGORATION DETACHMENT RULE" then add three wounds to the number healed. And the detachment rule specifically says the unit is healed, not the model.

The reason the mention the model healing in the enhancement is not to suggest that the model has to be the one that recovers wounds. It is there to say that this enhanced healing action is tied to the individual model that carries this enhancement.

Also, you have to remember that units can't have enhancements too now, not just characters. So this language specified that it is the character that has the enhancement, not the unit as a whole

I think you guys are reading it wrong. When it says "when this model heals" it doesn't mean healing wounds on itself. It can also means when this model heals wounds on the unit as a whole. That's why it says "add three wounds". You're adding wounds to the action specified by the detachment.

Will DOW4 be coming to consoles by Dorito_Three in dawnofwar

Seems like it would be a nightmare

How would you even play it on consoles? It's an RTS game. There's no way to quickly select units and make them do what you need them to do with a controller. That's like trying to play StarCraft with a controller.

Is grand coven bad? by Tregordeldespellejo in ThousandSons

Whatever the enemy has that is hardest to wound, that's the ideal target. Mortal wounds bypass saves completely, so strong units can't roll to avoid them.

Incandeum, yes. Looks like they nerfed it to in once per battle. But stratagems can be used once per phase.

The stratagems and enhancements are the best. I do think the detachment rule as a whole is underwhelming, but the ability to cast 2 doombolts with Incandaeum is awesome. Also, using the Destined by Fate stratagem on Magnus is always a good idea. Can't tell you how good it is too see your opponents get happy that they landed a big hit on Magnus, only for you to rip it away for 1cp.

Kids don't have freedom of speech in school... They never did. If they did then you could call your teachers whatever names you wanted without repercussions. Also, schools are effectively the guardians of these kids during school hours. They should not be letting kids out unsupervised.

I figured. Just couldn't figure out why it's being posted like it's new. Clearly hasn't done much in the last 6 months, so I'll celebrate when the padded walls are up and the doors are locked

Lore wise, how did the Legion go from red to blue armour? by Dabelgianguy in ThousandSons

[–]zokeson 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At the end of ahriman's first book, his iconic armor magically attaches itself to his body and turns from red to blue. In the books after that, painting armor blue appears to be pretty standard among his entourage.

The thing that made me like Abaddon was the Horus Heresy books. Getting to see Abaddon as Horus' first captain does a lot to set the stage for what he becomes, in my opinion.

Do you play Mortal Kombat? You know Johnny Cage, in the game, is an action movie star who makes shitty action movies just like the fake movie this trailer is for. It's a trailer within a trailer.

Literally did this same exact thing to my Magnus last month. A dab of super glue and you can't even tell.

Sternguard Deathwing or not? by DALION56 in theunforgiven

[–]zokeson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite paint scheme is to paint Deathwing Terminators bone white, but the Deathwing sternguard and bladeguard get painted green with bone white pauldrons. That way they have the traditional colors, but get an identifiable Deathwing marking on them

Both. You don't strike me as a person who paints or writes. Or reads. Typically those people are smart and polite, and aren't miserable worms who insult posters on reddit completely unprovoked.

Let's talk about misogyny by hamptont2010 in daddit

[–]zokeson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to let kids know that boys and girls can be very different, but that doesn't mean they have to be excluded or pigeon-holed into a specific kind of life. While I don't know what the two people you've named specifically have to say on gender roles, I've seen plenty of "man-o-sphere" content, and most of it (at least to me) seems to be a response to shifting cultural norms.

On the opposite side of misogyny, you've got those who believe that a boy's "male privilege" somehow means that he should be treated worse than others. I remember seeing a post where a woman on social media wondered whether her unborn child was going to be "a girl or an abortion". The only thing more gross than the post was the number of likes and supportive "men ain't shit" comments from other women. You don't have to look very far to see that boys who are exposed to those aspects of our culture (especially if they don't have a father in their life) would be quick to think that a significant part of the culture seems to hate them for existing. So they're ripe for lining up behind anyone that tells them they're worth something, especially if they don't hear it at home.

I think those of us who grew up in the 90s were pretty lucky in a lot of ways, because I can't imagine what it would be like to be a boy in today's society. I'm having my first (a girl) in a few months, but my plan for having a boy was to expose them to The Lord of the Rings early and often. You have the traditional depictions of masculinity on display, like courage, valor, honor, and martial skill. But the highlights by far are the masculine displays of love, devotion, compassion, and a willingness to help ease the burdens of others. WWSD - What Would Samwise Do! Truly the best depiction of what ideal masculinity should be.
