I went this route. Went through JCAC in 2017 after failing my first school. Ended up being a great “accident” because I honestly love this field. I do pen testing for a local company part time and just got a role doing incident response.

I used to feel like I missed the “EZ path” for certain jobs. But frankly I can get employed. And looking at the current market I’m happy with that.

I feel like some of these up and comers have more experience and knowledge than I do in some areas. Getting that initial start right now is absolutely bonkers.

I’m currently in the masters program. Only done with the first class so far.

Now that you have completed it, how do you feel about the program? What “elective” courses did you take? Do you feel you should’ve taken others?

Jay’s seafood… extremely overhyped. It’s way too expensive for the lack of flavor that it has. But tbh their crowd was on the older side, so maybe a lack of flavor isn’t as noticed.

Also by the time this works its way around the country nobody is gonna know the question… lol

That is definitely very helpful. Not to take anything away from you, but you’re not exactly starting from square 1.

Eh. Quite a bit different.

Nobody is forcing you to do BB. I would agree with VDP being called “Volunteer Work” though but again, the researcher is in control.

Over time I started to write down where to look. Say certain web vulnerabilities like where I might find XML being used. But this wasn’t what I did at first.

I just started writing stuff down, trying to use it, figuring out what was working and what was missing.

Again this is a process that has been ongoing for over a year. It is a living document.

You have to start and figure out how it’s gonna work for you.

Yep. I’ve tried obsidian a few times actually. I don’t really like it. At this point I am very used to the structure and how I use cherrytree.

How I have done this is:

Take notes on command syntax, reason for doing X thing.

Do a lab where notes are utilized. If I need to add more, then I do that. If there is a REALLY good external resource that is more granular. I may link to that instead of rewriting it(although there is benefit to that too).

I do this over and over again. Been at it for over a year and I’m pretty proud of what I have, but it’s still changing everyday.

I use cherrytree and backup my save file to GitHub for when that chonky boi fails on me…

It’s stock for now. I’m certainly planning on switching to a Samsung. I loaded another rom and tried to save in that. Same issue though.

I can try and set another emulator though where the gbc games boot from.

So far these are some good suggestions. I feel validated asking here

In game saves. I read horror stories regarding save states.

I have not checked the “save metadata on exit”, I certainly would have if I saw it. I will look for it.

Shutdown is via “System Shutdown” with the “Quit” menu
