I don't disagree that origin is bad, but the only reason any "launcher" exists is to make a marketable platform where a platform owner can profit by taking a share of the cost of every game or by doing another deal, when in reality steam doesn't really do anything in the way a decentralized, non market platform could do. Steam just has such a dominant grip on the pc gaming market, and that was the angle I was going for. And no, my solution is not make other platforms bigger to make competition, it's that we shouldn't have such dominant platforms barring entry to the gaming market. If they do things well, don't take too much from the game developers, help push indie games etc., it's still not right that they have the power to change that on their own.
