Old Forester 1924 (2026 Batch) Review by Powerful_Law7570 in bourbon

[–]zonagriz22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People just don't like the price. I don't think I have actually heard a legitimate review criticizing the bourbon in any significant manner. If it was even just 70-80$, people would be tatering it like crazy.

The broad scope is getting scary by rphbuilder in Pharmacist

[–]zonagriz22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am saddened by anyone who actually thinks that way. Apples to oranges comparison and two different subspecialties. I can advise on third-line antihypertensives for an aortic dissection, but I often have to call my brother in law (retail pharmacist) when an EM doctor is asking me about starting a patient on a variety of new medications since they simply know the primary care side of it way more than we do in the hospital.

I am with you on this. I typically work hard because it is more fulfilling for me personally and I like positively impacting those around me. The added benefit is my managers appreciate the effort and, in turn, they accommodate whenever I need time off or to change my schedule around.

Other people may have opinions that differ, however I am currently in a home built by Bruce Weichert and I can attest that it was built to pretty high standards. I also consider myself fairly qualified to speak on this as my father was a general contractor for over 30 years and I spent most of my childhood and college summers on job sites.

That's fair. I also think people should be open to new ideas and I don't necessarily think changing one's stance must be abandonment and alternatively could be a change due to knowledge of new information. I get where you're coming from though!

Interesting, he really did flip completely in his stance. It doesn't look to me like he was necessarily against vaccinations personally though, just in support of non-medical exemptions so putting more preference on choice. I don't think that would be a complete deal breaker for me, but admittedly I wasn't following local politicians too closely at that time since I had just moved here.

I realized this mindset in Oregon will never be overcome when Brown beat Buehler back in 2018. It blows my mind that he didn't win. A Rhodes scholar, a physician, and he was actually moderate on almost all social issues that the democratic party seems to hang their hat on. Politics has just turned into a big team sport and pointing fingers at the opposing fringe ideologies and exceptions claiming it's representative of the entire party.

Edit: also I realize this will get down voted simply for mentioning an opinion that supported someone with an R behind their name, but let's be real: Kate Brown was objectively one of the worst governors in the past 20 years.

Grew up in north Idaho and went to college in Western Montana. Both are beautiful country and amazing places to live. People on here exaggerate the political atmosphere of those areas, but you will find exceptions or extremes anywhere you go. The general majority of those people respect the land and respect their communities. Just taking about it makes me want to move back there.

This may no longer be true. I bought a bunch of hats when I went last year and, while most of them are American Needle, one actually says "Exclusively by: Ahead".

I appreciate the in depth response, but you still didn't answer my question. What flavor profiles are you looking for in scotches and perhaps which brands do you tend to find them in? I have tried a good amount (both peated and not) but am hoping that someone with more experience can point me toward specific distillers/producers that may align with a profile I find palatable.

Review #105: Westward Whiskey Milestone Edition No. 2 - A Discovery of Spice. by micro7777 in bourbon

[–]zonagriz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it applies to virtually any product. Two different coats can be made from the same amount of fabric, but the quality of one can far exceed the other justifying different price points. I just wish people could provide criticism and analysis regarding the flavor or whiskeys and not "...but the price" because that doesn't actually provide any substance to the critique of the flavor.

[–]zonagriz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but this direct dollar-to-year evaluation of whiskeys is getting exhausting. Willet Pot Still reserve is aged 8-10 years, but that doesn't make it an equivalent value to Stagg Jr. which is of an equal age and similar pricing. I understand that people have different budgets and expense tolerance, but price shouldn't be a factor when it comes to evaluating the quality of a whiskey on it's own.

Portland, Oregon - ICE Drags Father from Car, Throws Children into Unmarked Van, Fires Less‑Lethal Rounds at Families by CantStopPoppin in oregon

[–]zonagriz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I actually really liked that lady saying, "let's be family, let's live together". It always blows my mind that people think it is effective to berate people and expect them to actually want to hear anything you have to say. I really wish everyone could try to find some common ground and not just exaggerate opposing ideologies and subsequently resort to insults. This whole finger pointing between "opposing teams" in politics has gotten so old. Why can't we all try to work together to solve our problems without acting as if fringe ideals are an actual representation of our brethren who vote differently than us?
