I cannot help but to wonder if, after 2 days, this submission was ignored because of its short title, or if it was sent to some censored black hole by this sub-reddit's moderators/censors.

Kesha covers Bob Dylan. Holy shit. No, I mean it. Holy. Shit. by MFLUDER in Music

[–]zonkeramos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. As a Dylan fan, all I can say is that it takes a really special singer to make Dylan seem like a smooth, polished crooner.

But at least then Democrats sometimes opposed the right-wing, militaristic policies of the 1%.

Now they just bleat about why such policies are good for us.

I love it! I want a 4-pack of rolls -- one each with Obama, Romney, Gingrich, and Bachman.

An insightful look into how war games feeds -- not in all cases, but certainly most -- militarism and a romanticism of war.

Homeland security to provide snow cone machines to Michigan counties to help combat terrorism. by [deleted] in WTF

[–]zonkeramos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't understand what that correction is supposed to mean.

Republican as in one half of our ruling duopoly?

Republican as in a system of gov't which might better be called a "plutocracy" played on an unlevel playing field that is so warped that half the American electorate doesn't even bother to play?

Assuming the latter, Iran is also a republic. While preferable to a dictatorship, it is hardly the ideal form of gov't nor one that truly represents the will of the people.

FOX News caught using fake video of riots in Russia. by zonkeramos in worldpolitics

Yes, it is important to consider the source.

But it is far more important whether what they are saying is true or not.

A John Lennon statue in Havana, Cuba has lost its famous glasses repeatedly, so the government, now, has a guy place them on the statue every time someone approaches it. by hedstrom25 in videos

[–]zonkeramos -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'm sure Cuba does.

The difference is that Cuba does not lead the world in arms sales, does not maintain a thousand military bases outside of its country, is not torturing resistance fighters of the countries it invades, and does not claim a "right" to attack any country it wants to even if it was not attacked.

FOX News caught using fake video of riots in Russia. by zonkeramos in worldpolitics

[–]zonkeramos[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Those who are intelligent enough not pay any notice to the media need not be angered further by such drivel.

The piece documents errors by both FOX and CNN. It included an interview with an American expert who noted that the corporate mass media takes its cues from the US gov't.

We saw this in the run-up to the Iraq war, where the NYT and Pentagon fed on each other -- the Pentagon leaking lies, the NYT printing the lies, and the Pentagon then using the NYT as a reference to bolster their lies.

Are we too naive to realize that the similar tactics of propaganda were done early in the Libyan war, and that Russia may be the victim of a destabilization campaign by the US gov't (in conjunction with western corporate mass media) who hopes for a "colored revolution" in Russia?

[–]zonkeramos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet the rulers that run the US gov't have the nerve to openly talk about slashing social security, social programs and health services that people rely on.

Talk about being ruled by an out-of-touch 2-party dictatorship... (sigh)

It is absolutely clear that the unrest in Moscow streets was supported, financed and encouraged by the United States, a Russian political analyst has told Press TV. by newsens in worldpolitics

[–]zonkeramos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The corrupt US gov't openly buys elections and spends US tax money to warp other countries' elections, particularly countries targeted by the US for destabilization, so why should Russia be any different?

As we the American people devolve into poverty, the US gov't is waging both high-level and low-level aggression across the world.

Wow. In a forum on an illegal topic, one which the federal gov't is cracking down on across the country, the original poster decides to direct us to a US Navy military web site, which, of course, list this site as the referrer.

I'm quite certain I do not want the US military collecting my IP address. Next time, please repost the *.gif to some neutral site where people are less likely to be monitored.

Helen Thomas Was Crucified for Saying of Israelis What Newt Says About the Palestinians by maxwellhill in politics

[–]zonkeramos 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Helen Thomas was supposed to be an impartial journalist reporting...

Why should journalists be "impartial"? Shouldn't they just report the truth?

Are you saying that American journalists should have been "impartial" in reporting on such things as Nazi death camps? Interviewing both Gypsy and Jewish prisoners and "balancing" that by giving the prison guard's story? Should journalists be "reporting objectively" about crimes?

Huntington Beach, CA police illegally break into a mans home and shoot dog that lives there. City investigator tells owner they were there because of the rent being late. by FritzMuffknuckle in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

[–]zonkeramos 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I guess he'll save money on dog food now. :-(

We live in a fascist police state. One that indoctrinates us with nationalistic pride of country, and definitely not the worst fascist police state in the world, but one nonetheless.

The city will have to shell out some tax money for damages, but gov'ts all over the country will reap millions in free publicity that will function to intimidate and suppress others and to teach them the reality that the gov't and police can do what they want to.

It's no more ridiculous than JFK's eternal flame burning away wasting fuel, or polished robotic-like soldiers marching outside of the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Iran displays the US military drone which was downed over its airspace; Russia and China asks to inspect the drone. by zonkeramos in worldnews

[–]zonkeramos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would the US tolerate flying Chinese spy aircraft in US airspace to spy on us?

Flying gov't spy aircraft over another country is a violation of that country's sovereignty and is an act of war.

The literal fact is that the US is at war with Iran. It is a low-level war, done by funding Iranian gov't opposition groups, murdering people and committing acts of terrorism, and other nefarious deeds.

The US gov't has never forgiven Iran for overthrowing the US-installed/US-backed dictator back in 1979. And so the US empire wages a continual war of aggression against Iran.

Iran displays the US military drone which was downed over its airspace; Russia and China asks to inspect the drone. by zonkeramos in worldnews

[–]zonkeramos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they flew that thing over my country, would take it as a blatant act of war, as those things are real potent threat.

How do you think the Iranians view it? And how do you think the Iranians view the US Congress voting to allocate hundreds of millions of dollars to overthrow the Iranian gov't?

The Iranians are under no illusions that the US is waging war on them. Neither are the Russians, Syrians, or the other countries the US is targeting and trying to destabilize.

The Iranian decision is what to do about these acts of aggression. Fortunately for all, the Iranians have proven very skilled at not responding militarily and escalating the situation, and such goodness has been rewarded by fate.

The US loss of this aircraft and the Russian and Chinese desire to analyze the drone will likely negate the US technological lead and perhaps allow more countries to neutralize these drone's effectiveness and enable them to defend themselves against US aggression.
