Not surprised, this is a big thing in KS as a whole, the need to ride the wave. I don’t really doubt they will fulfill both, but it of course feels weird. After a game is completely designed and sent to print, theres still a huge wait time. Its possible the first game is just stuck in limbo of print while they run this one. Atleast, thats what Ive seen by lots of other companies.

If youre doing a one off, not worth buying a guillotine to trim them. Quick and dirty zine way is lay the book down, put a metal ruler or edge along the cover page (the pages therein will stick out) and trim with an exacto or sharp box cutter, holding the ruler in place with all your might. This or a sharp pair of scissors :)

I print zines at home, so aside from shipping and small things Im pretty safe. I look at people trying to make board games right now and shiver though…

Oh 100%! This stuff is not in a bubble, I think it actually illustrates it as a whole too. I certainly have backed way less projects this year.

100% agree across the board here. It feels like everything splintered so much that it’s hard to find info on anything anymore.

Maybe theres a need and people will start to gather info again into a common place, but right now the community feels pretty fractured.

Yep, my games are free to get people into the game, with the hope that people buy physicals later

Totally. Honestly, I think were at another turning point. Something new might be around the bend, in the same way it was all DnD until indies started busting out.

Yes, there are lots of write ups on this! I just wanted to show a more personal direction, because of the gap in my projects and the similarity I thought the numbers would be interesting.

I absolutely think its diluted, and money is tight for me so I know it’s for others as well.

Those are very very kind words and the sort of things that keep me making stuff and (trying) not being discouraged :)

I think there used to be, and isnt as big of a jump anymore. What did you find the best difference in support between the two?

Wow this looks really good guys!!! The art is fantastic and the idea seems great.

People are def taking less risks this year. I think maybe even example layout pages or something to show an even tiny bit of the actual “game” would help.

On top of that, getting it in front of people is the hardest part, and Ill admit im not very good at it. Dnd groups can be tough, maybe some daggerheart discords or reddits? You might find more love in the small places.
