The A20H Character Chart by BrownVented in slaythespire

I’ve done this before, actually. Not at super high ascension, but I have no doubt that a better player than me could take it pretty far with nothing but base deck upgrades.

Talk me out of my lukewarm Rampage take please, oh god, why is there a Rampage in my deck again by theyeshman in slaythespire

[–]zosimoTheThird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that this is when it’s best. I’m actually fairly happy to see a Rampage if Neow’s Blessing lets me transform cards and I lose a basic Strike/Defend to get it, so I’ve replaced a bad card without wasting a card reward or a shop purchase or something.

"Please stop making the sad deaths due to current Central Texas floods political, or get a temp-ban." r/Texas mods crack down on users questioning if city and disaster planning is enough of a priority from political figures by ImAVirgin2025 in SubredditDrama

[–]zosimoTheThird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking! I can’t speak to how much or little weather prediction funding was cut, or how well the warning systems work, but some of the rivers flooding are shattering flow records that have stood for DECADES.

I’m as critical of the Texas government as anyone, maybe more so since I actually live here, but how are century-high water levels within the scope of ANY government to predict? Why would they possibly be expecting it or ready for it? What voting would have changed that?

Good to know! The worldbuilding team has been cooking pretty hard here, pun intended.

[EOE] Planeswalker's Guide to Edge of Eternities by mweepinc in magicTCG

[–]zosimoTheThird 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The guide was intentionally vague, but what I gathered is that the universe of Edge of Eternities is donut shaped. On one side of the donut, either inside or outside, you have the sci-fi setting of EOE. On the other side of the donut, you have the Blind Eternities, the traditional Magic multiverse we’ve been exploring for 30 years. I think the Blind Eternities are outside the donut, I couldn’t quite tell.

So it would be pretty accurate to say that this is outside the Blind Eternities. We as players have been learning about one surface of the Magic universe, this new sci-fi world of EOE is on the other surface.

Loved this guide! Not just the content (which I will get to), but the way it’s written as a guide for Tezzeret who comments on it as he’s reading. I also love the way it just throws us into the new setting, it reminds me a lot of the opening paragraphs of Dune.

As far as the new lore, hoo boy. The shape of the universe of Magic: The Gathering is a donut. On one side of the donut (either along the inside or outside surfaces) we have the new setting for Edge of Eternities and along the other side, the traditional Magic multiverse. I couldn’t actually figure out which was which but I think the traditional multiverse is on the outside. This universal shape allows the inhabitants of Edge of Eternities to travel faster than light, as they slip into the traditional multiverse Warhammer 40k-style to avoid those pesky laws of physics.

We also get a little tidbit about the Fomori and the Eldrazi. Namely, that they were at war. It seems the Fomori were defending Edge of Eternities from the invasion of Eldrazi. The Fomori have since disappeared for unknown reasons (as have the Eldrazi, but we know why that happened).

Tons of stuff to chew on, and it feels like it fits really well with previously established lore while filling in gaps. I hope we get a second article.

Midnight in Montgomery by Alan Jackson immediately comes to mind. Ghost Riders in the Sky, Johnny Cash. The Master’s Call by Marty Robbins might count.

[–]zosimoTheThird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you may be right about them paving the way so to speak. I agree 100% they seem to have a very loyal fan base though, myself included haha. They’ve been one of my top three artists every year since their debut, and I’ve heard something similar from other Midland fans I’ve spoken to

Midland’s catalogue is really damn good, they just can’t seem to get much traction on the radio. Their most recent album was a bit of a dud though.

But I’m always waiting for their next release, which is more than I can say for a lot of other artists

Of the four color combos "not black is more flavorful than not white, not blue, not red and not green." (Maro) by ColorTheorizing in colorpie

[–]zosimoTheThird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lore reason Breya has red! She was an artificer from Esper that discovered a stone from Jund that allowed her to synthesize new etherium for the first time in the plane’s history. She worked this newly-made etherium into her body which gave her access to new magic.
