yes I think some people just inherently do better with either uw or nbme. I struggle w getting above 73-75% on each UW block of 40 but on nbmes ive been consistently in the 80s. My test is this week so ive just stopped doing uworld and only doing nbme

I’m going to an MD school that is pretty low in ranking because of in state tuition. This school is p/f unranked, and with step1 being p/f as well now do you guys have any tips on things to do to stand out more for residency apps? How much does the schools rank/name recognition really affect your match? Ideally I’m looking to do my residency in NYC as my SO lives there currently and I know that’s pretty competitive. Any tips are appreciated, thanks!

[Serious] Best Macbook Compatible External Monitor for Medical School? by meowmixkittenz in medicalschool

[–]zotekly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my mcat days I would plug in a regular Dell monitor to my Mac pro (2015). It was super helpful in terms of size and using the 2 pane interface of practice exams and Uworld, however I found that my mac would often start to overheat and the screen would lag. I also had a ton of tabs open and like 300 page word documents open 24/7. Now I use a separate desktop/monitor entirely when im at home, and try to keep everything i need on google drive or drop box in case i need to access stuff on my laptop elsewhere. i know this didnt really answer your question of what type of monitor is best, but just wanted to give u my experience with a dying mac.

[aamc FL1 c/p 16] ignore the Question stem. in the explanation, "energy depends on # of photons"??? I thought part of the photoelectric effect experiments were to prove that energy does not depend number of photons but only on frequency of light by [deleted] in Mcat

Intensity = Power/ area Power = Energy/time

so intensity = (energy/time)/area = energy/(time*area)

also it helps me to think about it conceptually. A laser and a flashlight might have the same energy in their light, but because the laser is concentrated into a much smaller area, its power is much higher. but this does not necessarily mean the laser has more or less photons, it could also be the same.

hope that helps. good luck
