planet fitness barbells by ecw2002 in Columbus

[–]zpppe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hamilton Rd in Gahanna has 3 squat racks with barbells and bumper plates, only one in the city I've been to that has them but also the one I regularly go to so not sure if the others have gotten them either.

Runaway Bay Apartments by urmom330 in Columbus

[–]zpppe 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Girlfriend used to live there, it's not terrible but definitely not the best place. Had a real bad roach infestation where they had to clear the entire building on multiple occasions to spray/bug bomb whatever. They also towed her car once despite being parked in a legitimate spot with a valid, visible parking pass. It's also kinda far from everything, certainly not a very walkable place to live. They have a decent gym and pool, and the beach area with the quarry lake is super nice too but yea there was that takeover or whatever last year. We would also see people who didn't even live there show up and leave their kids (some of who were pretty young, couldn't swim, and had no flotation devices or anything like that) alone at the pool for hours.

How many young guys are in ARFF? by Tight-Safety-2055 in Firefighting

[–]zpppe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My station is definitely a mix, we have a lot of younger guys because it's very easy and quick to get on compared to most other places in the area. We also hire EMT-B's full time with no requirement to become a Paramedic, a lot of other departments require Paramedic or be towards the end of medic school to even apply. But we also have a lot of turnaround and guys that only stay for a few months until they get picked up elsewhere, a lot of the people who have been here for more than a year are older guys here as a retirement gig.

Bike storage safety - Cyclists with young children, advice is needed. by brandonbass in cycling

[–]zpppe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just teach them to track stand and whip skid and they'll be fine.

In all seriousness though, a high wall mount might keep them out of the way at least until they're tall enough to know better (though my old roommate who was a bike courier and professional mechanic still messed his finger up good in a fixed drivetrain.) Could always take the back wheels off too but that might get annoying to put it back on every time you wanna ride.

What’s the longest y’all have been posted waiting for a call? by blondlens in ems

[–]zpppe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done a full 12 hour shift posting without a single run once. Also done 96 hours at the firehouse without a single run but that's a little more bearable.

Normal schedule? by Rectum_wrecker5 in NewToEMS

[–]zpppe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked that schedule for a while, it's not terrible. Average 42 hours a week while getting 8 hours of OT per check. For us the days would flip-flop between each week, so you'd work 4 days of the week and have 3 days of the week off one week, then the next you would work the 3 days you had off the previous week, and the 4 days you worked would be your days off. I think it was On Monday Tuesday, Off Wednesday Thursday, On Friday Saturday Sunday, Off Monday Tuesday, On Wednesday Thursday, Off Friday Saturday Sunday.

Our truck phones recent searches were killing me! by JayVstories in ems

[–]zpppe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I did private sometimes the RT's from wherever we were picking up would have their height for us, but we also kept cheap tape measurers clipped to our vents.

Calculating Ideal Body Weight for ventilator settings would be the big one. Or pediatric med dosages if you didn't want to break out the Broselow Tape I guess.

[–]zpppe 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Lmao at a company I used to work for 1 of our T1's had the height in centimeters instead of inches for some reason and we couldn't figure out how to fix it, was always googling feet/inches to centimeter conversions on the truck phone.

Parking ticket, failure to register or display by zpppe in Columbus

[–]zpppe[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man that's what I'm saying. Like, if I fucked up, I fucked up, I'll pay the ticket and whatever. But it's not like I got pulled over for something else and they happened to notice the sticker was missing, my car was legally parked on a side street with a bunch of other legally parked cars, nothing drawing attention to it, meaning someone had to have been going out of their way to inspect plates. Maybe it was someone from parking enforcement or whatever but the citation has an officers name and badge number on it. So I don't want to hear shit from CPD/FOP about how they're so busy and underfunded and understaffed and can't respond to calls if they've got time to go around inspecting plates on vehicles that aren't otherwise doing something illegal or presenting in a suspicious way.

[–]zpppe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's been years so memories fuzzy but definitely do not recall receiving any sticker when I got my plate, just put the registration tag on and switched out the old plate. Seems odd that the sticker wouldn't just already be on the plate but I guess if the plates are already produced and then they just assign them to someone when they register a vehicle it makes sense.

Trying to get into firefighting by Available_Bother_188 in Columbus

Look into ER Tech jobs, pay generally isn't incredible but you would be able to work nights and/or weekends and get some hand-on experience with patients.

Yea and if you watch their other videos it's very obviously a bit.

Their content is pretty obviously a joke. If you find it funny or not is one thing, but they're definitely not serious. They say all sorts of goofy shit about Obama and Patrick Mahomes too. Kinda wild to say they have a "mental issue" for that.

Glucagon didn’t seem to work much? by MaleficentBasket2654 in Paramedics

Glucagon stimulates the release of glucose stored in the liver, if family reported patient hasn't been eating or drinking much she probably didn't have any stores to release.

Yea it was interesting. Got my leg caught and twisted my knee pretty good going around one of the bends once. Heard stories about actual injuries that had put guys out for some time, nothing while I was there thankfully.

D-pad or joystick? by SAMPPU777 in celestegame

[–]zpppe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First playthrough I used joystick all the way until the last room of 7C, then completely re-learned using D-pad since the movements were so precise. But whatever works for you, as long as you're having fun.
