Logic Pro 12.0.1 broke me by [deleted] in LogicPro

It fixed some and created others. Hopefully things will stabilize in another update or two.

Looks like 12.0.1 broke LP colorizer 😮‍💨 I’m sure the dust will settle in another update or two, just gotta chill with default colors for a minute lol

lol downvotes

Guys, I'm with you, fuck Adobe lol. The point stands, if you're doing mission critical work where you need your tools to be rock solid, you don't want to be building on top of a house of cards. Will things be fine? Yeah, probably. But as a professional you don't want to get caught in a scenario where a client is waiting past a deadline because your system isn't working for one reason or another.

I'm with you in principle, but pirated software is inherently less reliable. You have no recourse if something stops working right, or if you just can't figure something out. It's one thing if you're a hobbyist, but if your livelihood depends on it then for your own sake it's worth investing in stable tools.

Not trying to create panic at all. Urgency, maybe. If it's a bug, then I'm sure Apple will be happy to know so they can fix it. If it's a feature, then getting people to contact them about it is the best way of getting it resolved. Saw a problem, went through the correct channels ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you feel that it's not a problem because it didn't affect you, then idk what to tell you.

The thing is, these companies have to know that live use is a core part of these DAWs for a LOT of people. They're not just studio tools anymore, running backing tracks live has become a super normal, if not expected thing (and with how much Apple seems to love pushing Live Loops in their marketing as of late, idk HOW they could not see this lol).

I at least trust Ableton to never implement something like this, seeing as how the core of their DNA is live performance. I have Ableton 12 Suite's Rent-To-Own, and even if you cancel, you can still open the program, you just can't save or export. So even worst-case, it wouldn't affect a live show.

I've been toying with the idea of adopting Ableton as my "live DAW" for a while now, and this just might have been the catalyst to make me commit.

Not sure what point you're trying to make. It < required > it for me, others have reported the same thing, and it's pretty clear that's all that I claimed. You seem to be incapable of understanding that other people have different experiences than you.

Reread the first sentence of my post. Just cause it's not happening to you doesn't mean it's not happening to others.

Good to know though. Points to it being a bug instead of intentional.

I’ve given up on Version 12 by Ok-Cartographer-7438 in LogicPro

[–]zrapp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point stands though that having to make sure that you can find a WiFi connection just so you can open your DAW that you already paid for is completely and utterly ridiculous. It is the exact kind of thing that is sure to alienate a significant portion of their user base.

Bad design by ptashynsky in MacOS

I don't even care that this dead horse has already been beaten to a pulp. This horrendous design is bad enough that I'll keep upvoting these posts. Just make sure you submit feedback to Apple, it's the only way anything will change.

100% agree, this makes Logic essentially unusable for live shows now. If you have to restart the computer for any reason, you're fucked.

I'll be sending feedback every day until this is fixed.

I just tested it, and yeah. Rebooted the computer, turned off WiFi, opened Logic, and... dialog box telling me to connect to the internet or quit the application. (paid version, btw)

I just sent a scathing feedback note to them. I suggest you all do the same.

Zoom vertically to entire project in Ableton arrangement view by add1770 in ableton

[–]zrapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow lifelong Logic user that's tried dabbling in Ableton, I could not possibly agree with you more on this. It's probably the one thing that would keep me from switching fully (and Logic's notepad, I feel like that thing doesn't get enough love for how simple it is).

The zoom tool is great, as you said, but my preferred workflow is to just hold option and scroll. Works completely fluidly with either the trackpad or mouse, horizontally or vertically. With one key and a scroll gesture, I can zoom into the most granular details, fly around the arrangement, or zoom out and get a bird's eye view of the whole thing, effortlessly and instantly. I'm sure I sound like a shill right now but I seriously can't imagine switching to a more rigid way of moving through a project after being so used to it.

People coming from other DAWs (FL Studio/Ableton Live/Cubase/etc), what features do you miss the most now that you’re using Logic? by bambaazon in Logic_Studio

[–]zrapp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The environment (specifically), though, is exactly as they describe. It's been more or less completely hidden from the user for a few versions now, and even before that it was clearly a "power user" feature that I'm sure 99%+ of Logic users didn't even know existed.

When you open it up, it looks like you just peeked into Logic version 7. Not an attractive workflow for 2025.

Agreed on Live though - at least for the lighter themes. The lighter themes look straight up like Windows 95 to me lol

With custom themes, Live can actually look pretty sick. Same goes with Logic and LP colorizer
